While today will be cloudy, it is going to stay quiet. Tomorrow is a different story.
A strong cold front will move in through the afternoon and evening hours and bring a decent potential for severe storms. Wind gusts in excess of 60mph will be possible, along with a chance for an isolated tornado or two. Stay alert throughout the day!
An approaching front will bring the potential for severe weather Saturday morning. the biggest threat will be wind gusts up to 60mph, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. We'll start to calm back down by the afternoon.
With a line of potentially strong storms moving in tomorrow morning, the Walt Disney World Half Marathon will now start at 4:45am. Not only will the start time be slightly earlier, but the race will be shortened to have everyone done by 8am.
I may not have gotten to see the ball drop, but I was awake for the spectacular first sunrise of 2024! Happy New Year!
Low pressure in the Gulf will start to move in our direction overnight and throughout the day on Saturday. This will bring some active weather for the weekend. There's a risk for severe storms as the low gets closer to us Saturday night and Sunday morning. Wind gusts up to 60mph will be possible, along with an isolated tornado. There's also a flooding concern where parts of Central Florida could pick up several inches of rain before the low begins to depart Sunday afternoon.
Low pressure moving through this weekend will bring some rough weather conditions. While this low is non-tropical, heavy rain, high wind, and rough surf is possible as it moves through.
An area of low pressure will develop early Saturday and get kicked northeast toward Florida. Timing is still a bit uncertain, but rain is expected to move in around lunchtime and become heavier and more widespread throughout the day. There's a risk that localized flooding could occur with parts of Central Florida picking up several inches.
We also have a risk for an isolated severe storm Saturday into early Sunday with the potential for gusts up to 60mph and an isolated tornado.

Strong onshore wind will continue through Friday, keeping ocean conditions rough. Several advisories have been issued.
Expect strong onshore wind again Wednesday with gusts up to 30mph possible. Make sure your holiday decorations are secure... especially those inflatables!

You may need two extra blankets tonight as temperatures continue to fall! Marion County even has the potential for some patchy frost with overnight lows in the 30s.
Hooray! As long as an out-of-season system doesn't try and form, you won't hear me talk about the tropics until next May!
If you thought last night was cold, you're not going to enjoy tonight! Temperatures will drop to some of the coldest numbers we've seen since January. Parts of Marion County also has the chance for some frost as we head toward sunrise. Stay warm!
It's not often we talk about breaking record cool high temperatures, but that's exactly what Sanford did today! Daytona Beach and Leesburg tied their old record cool highs. Definitely a chilly day across Central Florida!
It's going to get chilly tonight! Bundle up as temperatures are expected to fall into the 40s; the coldest night we've seen since early March!

Crazy amounts of rain for Central Florida today! Several flood alerts were issued as heavy rain fell, chipping away quickly at our rainfall deficit. Scattered showers will continue overnight, but conditions will improve Friday.
The area we've been tracking in the Caribbean is now Potential Tropical Cyclone Twenty-Two. There's a decent chance that it will become a tropical storm by tomorrow, but will move northeast and stay away from Florida. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for Jamaica, parts of Cuba, Haiti, and parts of the Bahamas.
Low pressure moving up the east coast will not only keep showers around Thursday, but heavy rain is also possible. Some areas may pick up several inches of rain quickly, so there's a chance for flash flooding. This flood risk, along with gusty wind, will be our main threats throughout the day.
The Osceola County EOC and the NWS in Melbourne held a great workshop today discussing El Niño and what impacts it could bring to Central Florida the next few months. Even though it’s dry season, a strong El Niño sets us up for a higher potential of severe weather outbreaks.
Fall Fiesta in the Park continues today out at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando. Spectrum News 13 will be out there, so come by and see us... the weather is gorgeous!

Rounds of severe weather early this morning did drop an EF2 tornado in Palm Coast. A lot of damage, but thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Tonight will be much quieter!
