Chief Sharp holds a Masters in Educational Leadership and is a graduate of the 190th Session of the FBI National Academy. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, appointed by the President of the IACP as a member of the IACP Highway Safety committee, as well as the Chairman of Traffic Incident Management Subcommittee, the Police Executive Research Forum, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, the HIDTA Management Subcommittee, and the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police. Additionally, Chief Sharp has recently concluded serving his second term as Chairman of the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission, is Vice-chairman of the Arizona Automobile Theft Authority Board, Past President of the Oro Valley Rotary Club and the Chairman of the Pima County Wireless Integrated Network Executive Committee Board of Directors.
