Sorry for the long absence in posts, but I’m going to try and be better at adding WIP clips. This clip is starting the stadium seating for the Old Operating Theatre piece (London).

Brooklyn-based musical duo Charming Disaster was formed in 2012 by Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Inspired by the gothic humor of Edward Gorey and Tim Burton, the noir storytelling of Raymond Chandler, the murder ballads of the Americana tradition, and the dramatic flair of the cabaret, they write songs that tell stories, using two voices to explore dark narratives and characters with a playfully macabre sensibility. Mississippi artist Lee Harper’s miniature model series History Bones offers skeletal appreciations of historical true crime events and other macabre scenes rendered in detail-rich but micro-scale sculpture. Learn more: historybones.com

“There's something beautiful about skeletons being the great equalizer. They represent all of us, no matter the gender, race, or nationality. Look at Memento Mori, Dia de los Mu***os, the Danse Macabre, catacombs, ossuaries and the jeweled saints for examples of our endless fascination with death, bones and mortality. All of the pieces are about real people, events or customs…the goal is to bring some of these subjects out of the dark and deliver them with a bit of my interpretation.” – Lee Harper

Not going to lie, roughing out the very beginning of pieces is my least favorite part of the process, but once it starts, it’s off to the races. New piece is a full size City Grocery bar.

I’m sure there’s a metaphor about life in there somewhere, but I’m too tired to make it right now.👻

St. Lucy Day
WIP photos from St Roch Chapel (New Orleans) piece. This is the one I cut my leg through my pants on, whittling a little too aggressively. Not nearly the sacrifice of St. Lucy, but a first for me. 💙

The mini Gin finished. 🍻🍻🍻
Quarter for scale. See whole series of old Oxford favorites in the new Tiny Oxford book at Square Books or from me at tinyhistorystudios.com. I can inscribe anything you like inside.

Makes a great Christmas present for anyone who has ever loved Oxford.
❤️💙

One of my all time favorite transformations. Take a broken angel candlestick from Goodwill, pull the head off, paint to look like an old bust, age, done.

This particular chair is, by far, the thing I’ve superglued my fingers together the most on while making it. 😂 Totally worth it!

Second pic is finished lawn chairs and Shadowlawn commission lit up.

WIP shots of Dino’s give a better feel of scale. The “lights” on the Dino’s sign are beads individually glued down to give the impression of the old yellow/orange light bulbs.

Made the boat from Jaws for a couple’s anniversary gift. They met at a Jaws screening years before and it became their inside joke, as well as favorite movie. ❤️
