If you want to reduce routine, muscle-related back pain flare ups ask your doctor about doing this exercise a few times each day. If it’s okay, give it a try. Simply lie on your back with both knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Pull both knees toward your chest and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. Return to the starting position. Do this 5 to 10 times.

The Zumba with Kimba Story...
I fell in love with Zumba back in late 2009 and couldn’t get enough, even though when I first started, I was in the back row and was going left when the instructor was going right :) I stuck it out because I loved the music and the laughter and the exhilarating workout it gave me--exercise in disguise is what Zumba is often referred to! I became certified in March 2010 as a personal challenge with a friend and owner of a local fitness club who asked me if I would like to start teaching at her club...this was not my original intent, but the fact that she believed I could, despite me being overweight, made me take my personal challenge a step further. I never took a dance class in my life, unlike some of my instructor mentors-one of which was a multi-year Latin Dance Champion! But that is the beauty of Zumba--you don’t have to be a great dancer to have an awesome time and workout! My love of Zumba and the love of my students took me out of my comfort zone and made me comfortable and I knew I had found my calling :) Seeing my students at class week after week was further validation, and 8 years later and in my mid-50s, I am still teaching 4 classes a week on a regular basis (down from 13 since I am now working a full-time job!) Come see what all the fun is about--I love turning new students onto the wonderful world of Zumba! The 2 classes I teach that are open to the public are Tuesdays & Thursdays at 4:30 at the Oxford Area Sr Ctr, 12 E. Locust St in Oxford. Classes are just $3, pay as you go :) All fitness levels are welcome and all ages over 12!
