Saturday Update:
⏰TIMING:
Scattered showers and t'storms likely increase in coverage between midnight Friday night & daybreak on Saturday. Occasional scattered showers & t'storms continue through the afternoon. A final round of rain will move across KY & TN late Saturday night, exiting by daybreak Sunday.

⛈IMPACTS
This still looks to be a mostly rain event, but we'll need to keep an eye on at least a low-end chance of a strong storm before the cold front comes through. This is the typical cool season setup with very little instability, which will likely be a big limiting factor. However, with strong winds aloft, there is at least a small chance that a storm or two could produce some gusty winds.

**Important to note...with this weekend being the 2-year anniversary of Dec. 10, I know a lot of people's storm anxiety will be heightened. Please know that this setup is nothing like that event...and our chance for any organized severe weather is very LOW.**

☔RAINFALL TOTALS
Heaviest rain has shifted just a bit to the east, with up to 1-2" possible over KY & TN. Lesser amounts now expected for IL & MO.

12/07/2023

Sunny & warmer today, then tracking a messy Saturday.

12/07/2023

☀Pick of the week today! Plenty of sunshine & highs several degrees warmer than average.
🚩Breezy next few days...SW gusts up to 20-25 mph today through Saturday AM.
⛈Messy Saturday...scattered showers & t'storms possible from early morning through the evening. A strong storm with gusty winds cannot be ruled out.
🌬Much chillier air blows in behind this system. Quick drop in temps Saturday evening into Sunday.

12/06/2023

Highest weekend rain chance still centered on Saturday. Scattered showers in the morning, then more widespread rain/t'storms in the afternoon & evening. As far as the chances for wintry weather at the end of the system on Sunday...those chances are looking less and less likely.

12/06/2023

Come on sunshine!!! ☀

12/06/2023

Clouds gradually fade today, then tracking the latest on our weekend rain maker.

🐪Happy hump day! Already halfway home for this work week, and we are heading into the chilliest day of the week. Clouds this morning will gradually clear out for the afternoon.

🌡Warming up tomorrow...back above average for the end of the week. Gusty winds will also kick up heading toward the weekend. Gusts Thu/Fri up to 20-25 mph....up to 30-35 mph on Saturday.

☔Messy weekend ahead....strong cold front still on track for Saturday, with widespread rain likely. Highest rain chance will be in the afternoon & evening...can't rule out a few embedded thunderstorms. Rainfall in the 1-2" range likely. Showers will likely come to an end Sunday morning, followed by late-day clearing. Chances for anything wintry on Sunday are looking less likely.

12/05/2023

A good soaking rain on the way this weekend. Shower chances will arrive by Saturday morning, with a steady, heavier rain likely Saturday afternoon into evening. Some lingering showers may continue into Sunday. Still a very small chance of a wet snowflake on the tail end of the system Sunday....but that chance remains very small.

Photos from Trent Okerson-WPSD Local 6's post 12/05/2023

-Good Tuesday morning! We'll enjoy a nice start to the day, with sunshine through early afternoon. Changes arrive for the afternoon though, with another system bringing an increase in clouds, and possibly even a sprinkle or stray shower in KY by mid-afternoon. NW wind will become gusty this afternoon as colder air moves into the area.

-Next big storm system arrives this weekend. Showers and t'storms will make for a messy Saturday. Up to 1-2" rainfall possible. The biggest question with this system is Sunday...some models show the potential for a few showers to linger on the back side of this system, with possibly enough cold air wrapping in for a couple of snowflakes to mix in. Low chance of this materializing...but it's something to watch.

12/05/2023

More clouds and a small shower chance this afternoon...then tracking a messy weekend system.

This week's Winter Weather Awareness week with the NWS Paducah begins with a reminder to be sure and look out for pets and animals when temperatures turn cold.

12/04/2023

Monday 8:00 - A few spotty showers possible over the next hour for portions of S. IL & W. KY close to the Ohio River. Grab the umbrella before you head out.

12/04/2023

A bit cool for the first few days of the week...and looking ahead to our next rain chance this weekend.

12/04/2023

⛅Low pressure swirling across the area this morning may lead to a couple of showers over S. Illinois. After some early morning sunshine, clouds will move back in by midday and this afternoon. Rather cool today, with highs struggling to get out of the 40s.

🌡Cool for the first half of the week...then turning quite a bit milder for the end of the week. Turning breezy as well.

⛈Messy start to the weekend. Tracking a potent cold front set to arrive Saturday, bringing a good chance of rain, possibly even some rumbles of thunder, then a big cool down for Sunday.

12/03/2023

- Patchy dense fog is possible through the morning hours. Two small shots of colder air on Monday and Wednesday. Some rain is possible from Monday's brief shot as the center of low pressure moves over Illinois. The second one on Wednesday will be much further north and will only provide slightly cooler air.

- Our next rain chance starts late Friday night and lasts through the early afternoon on Saturday. Some thunderstorms are not out of the question either. Temperatures will be mild as well, topping out in the low 60's.

12/03/2023

Dense fog advisory is in effect until 8 AM Saturday for most of Tennessee and the Missouri Bootheel. Some areas may see visibility under one mile. Take extra time for your commute tonight into tomorrow.

12/02/2023

- Quiet weekend ahead aside from a few isolated showers overnight tonight. Then a zigzag of temperatures from the 40's to the 50's through the week, ultimately topping out in the low to mid 60's by next weekend. Low temperatures are a little closer together, staying in the mid to upper 30's next week.

12/02/2023

🎅Who's headed to the parade tomorrow evening? It will be a bit cool and likely cloudy, but overall the weather should end up cooperating for us.🎄

LET'S GO CARDINALS! 🏉

Drizzly and damp this morning...tracking when we'll see a little sunshine & what's ahead for this weekend.

Photos from Trent Okerson-WPSD Local 6's post 12/01/2023

🎅Welcome to December! Hard to believe we are in the final month of 2023 already! And just in case you are wondering...there's no sign of anything wintry for the first couple of weeks of the new month. 😐

☔Steady rain from overnight has come to an end, but we'll have some patchy drizzle or even a few light spotty showers this morning. Just a damp, dreary morning. SW wind will help keep temps several degrees warmer than average today.

🌡Generally quiet weather for the weekend...slight chance of a shower Saturday overnight. Big story over the next week will be temperatures remaining warmer than average.

11/30/2023

Who's headed to Lexington to cheer on the Cardinals? The steady rain should be over with by game time, but still could be a little drizzle or light showers. Otherwise, it will be cool and pretty breezy.

11/30/2023

Eddie Rabbitt loved a rainy night...do you? 😂
Rain arrives late this evening...tapers off by daybreak tomorrow.

Rain on the way tonight....here's the latest timing.

Photos from Trent Okerson-WPSD Local 6's post 11/30/2023

🌤A quiet start to the day, with sunshine early giving way to increasing clouds.
☔Some good sleeping weather tonight, with rain rolling in by late evening, sticking around overnight.
☁A little drizzle/light rain sticks around early in the morning, but we'll see some partial clearing for Friday afternoon. The weekend looks generally dry...just a small chance of a light rain shower late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

11/29/2023

☀Pick of the week today! Plenty of sunshine & milder temps.
☔Rain moves in by Thursday evening...out by Friday morning.
⛅Dry weekend...more clouds Saturday / more sun Sunday.
🌡Temps stay a bit milder than average through the weekend.

11/28/2023

After a cold start to the week....we are back to slightly warmer than average tomorrow through the weekend. Pick of the week on Wednesday!

11/28/2023

🎯Pick day of the week tomorrow!
More sunshine & milder!☀🌡

11/28/2023

Still expecting a nice soaking rain Thursday into Friday. Showers begin as early as midday Thursday, with the bulk of the wet weather Thursday night into Friday.

11/28/2023

🌬Coldest day of the season so far today! Highs may not get out of the 30s for many spots...this would be Paducah's first day since February 17 with a high colder than 40°.
☔Still on track for late-week rain. Showers will develop during the day Thursday, with widespread rain Thursday night into Friday morning. Anywhere from 0.5" to over 1" rain possible.
☁Our weekend looks rather gray, with a lot of clouds, but not much rain. A stray shower is possible....and temps will remain milder than average.

Photos from Trent Okerson-WPSD Local 6's post 11/27/2023

☔Second half of the week is looking soggy. Rain chance increase through the afternoon Thursday, with widespread rain Thursday night into Friday morning. Rainfall totals are still a bit uncertain, depending on the track of the storm. Most of the area will likely pick up at least 0.5" to 1.0" of rain out of this system.

11/27/2023

Had to steal this one from Kaylee Bowers. 😆

11/27/2023

☀A sun-filled start to the work week, but temperatures will be quite chilly today & tomorrow. Highs will run a solid 10° or more colder than average.
☔A good chance of rain on track for the end of the week. Showers will develop during the day Thursday, with widespread rain likely Thursday night into Friday morning. Right now, most of the area looks to be on track for at least an inch of rain out of this system.
☁Upcoming weekend looks pretty dreary, with clouds holding tight, and possibly another shower chance on Saturday night and Sunday.

11/26/2023

- Wet and cool start to Sunday but rain should be done by noon today. Later this evening, skies will begin to clear and give way to temperatures in the low and mid 20's tonight and tomorrow morning.

- Our next rain chance comes early Friday morning and lasts through early Saturday morning. Totals from this system will be much higher than today's. Most of the area should see at least 0.75" to 1.5" of rain from Friday and Saturday.

11/25/2023

- Clouds begin to increase this afternoon ahead of some showers tomorrow morning. No more than a quarter inch of rain expected. Temperatures drop Monday to their coldest of the season so far, lows reaching the low 20's in a few areas.

- Temps rebound back to normal by the middle of the week but cold persists overnight with clear skies and little wind. Next rain chance begins on Friday and will have much more coverage than Sunday's system.

11/24/2023

📉Going down....temperatures are heading below average again for the next few days, including a very cold start to next work week. Monday looking like the coldest day of the season so far! Thankfully, we should get a quick bounce back to above average later in the week.
