Obtaining an appointment with the surveyor and measurement team can take weeks if not months, along with getting their reports back, so it's important to get them scheduled right away. As some of you may know, we found a leak in our roof a few weeks ago during the strong rains.Here’s an update on what we have been doing to handle the issue.I want to preface this by saying we were aware of the condition of the roof when we bought this home last year. We knew it was an old cal-shake roof made by a company that has since gone bankrupt. Knowing this, we went ahead and took the risk anyway. Almost a year later, we got our first leak! I called my go-to roof professionals to assess the situation and sure enough, a roof replacement was needed. Since we weren’t ready to shovel out the cash for the roof replacement, we instead opted to patch our roof.If you find a roof leak, just know replacement is not the only solution (depending on the severity of your situation).
