🚒 Ruck with the Best of the Best! 🚒
As we continue celebrating 100 years of service, we invite you to join your Parma firefighters for a family-friendly ruck (walk) around our great city!
A ruck is a walk with a weighted backpack, but don’t worry—you’re welcome to join us with or without the weights. It’s all about getting out and moving! We’ll cover about 14.8 miles, but feel free to do just 1 mile or whatever your fitness level allows.
📍 Start Location: Station 2 (State and Snow)
📅 Date: Friday, September 20th
🕣 Time: We step off at 0830
We’ll walk by each fire station in the city, with water and light snacks available at each stop. The pace is entirely up to you! The average distance between stops is about 3 miles.
Whether you’re rucking with a full pack or just out for a stroll, this is a great way to connect with our community and celebrate our centennial.
Please note: As with any physical exercise, there is a remote chance of injury. The Parma Fire Department is not liable for any injury sustained.
Come ruck with us and be part of this special event! 💪
The kids are heading back to school which means that the school zones will be active again soon so please slow down. Below is the schedule which shows the times when the school zone lights will be activated. The times highlighted in yellow are the school zones that have photo enforcement cameras present.

Power has been restored to 98% of the approximately 310,000 Illuminating Company customers impacted by last week's storm. Nearly all of the less than 7,000 customers who remain without power are expected to have service restored by 11 p.m. tonight.
Work to restore power to a very small number of customers in areas with more extensive damage may continue beyond this evening. To view the current individual estimated restoration times for your particular outage, log into your account at www.firstenergycorp.com, text STAT to 544487 or view the outage map: http://spr.ly/OHOutageMap. While final equipment numbers are still being tallied, as of Sunday, Aug. 11, outage response crews have repaired or replaced:
1,795 pole crossarms
400 poles
195 transformers
189,253 feet of wire and cable – that's enough wire and cable to cover 526 football fields laid end to end
We want to offer our sincere gratitude to everyone who has come together to make our communities whole again after this historic event, and to the thousands of FirstEnergy employees, contractors and neighboring utilities – representing 17 states – who have worked tirelessly to turn the lights back on in northeast Ohio. And to our customers – thank you for treating our crews with kindness by offering snacks, drinks and so many words of encouragement to help them through those 16-hour shifts. Stay safe!
NEWS: Thanks to around-the-clock hard work by more than 7,500 storm responders, nearly all Illuminating Company customers will have power restored much sooner than the original global estimate of Wednesday, Aug. 14. To date, power has been restored to nearly 90% of Illuminating Company customers, with less than 35,000 remaining without service.
