Videos by Stewards of the Arroyo Seco in Pasadena. Dedicated to the protection and restoration of the Arroyo Seco, a major tributary of the LA River
San Rafael Creek
Poor San Rafael Creek. Pasadena wants to put it into a pipe. We want stream restoration.
Happy Arroyo! Happy Trout! Here's the Arroyo Seco flowing at about 100 cubic feet per second today. That's really just a minor storm for a stream that has carried 8400 cubic feet per second twice in the last century.
Arroyo Seco -- Key Tributary of the Los Angeles River
The Arroyo Seco is a key tributary of the Upper Los Angeles River and belongs in the updated Master Plan. This video features the LA County Board of Supervisors' meeting in 2016 that authorized the update of the LA River Master Plan and makes clear that the Arroyo Seco tributary should be included in the updated plan.
Mister Pestrella Comes to Altadena
Mark Pestrella, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, came to Altadena recently to discuss the County Flood Control District's $100 million sediment mining and trucking program for the Devil's Gate Dam basin in Hahamongna Watershed Park. See what the little birdie, an endangered least Bell's vireo, has to say.

Public Comments on Hahamongna Sediment - August 21, 2017
Don Bremner and Elizabeth Bour went to the Pasadena City Council on Monday, August 21st, 2017 to let them know that LA County Flood Control District's court-mandated revisions to the Environmental Impact Report for the sediment mining and excavation program at Hahamongna Watershed Park are now up for public review. The comment period closes September 7, 2017. Have you submitted your comments yet?
Zev on the Big Dig
TELL THE SUPERVISORS: NO BIG DIG!
Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky could not get a straight answer from LA County Flood officials in November 2014 when the County Supervisors approved the Big Dig program for Hahamongna Watershed Park in the Arroyo Seco.
Now 2-1/2 years later they still have not given a good answer on the probability or risk of a catastrophic flood, and Judge James Chalfant has ruled their Environmental Impact Report critically flawed.
It's time for the new, environmentally-sensitive County Board of Supervisors to take a new look at the devastating impacts of the Big Dig and craft a steady, sustainable sediment management program for Devil's Gate Dam and the Arroyo Seco.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS VIDEO TO YOUR SUPERVISOR.
Thanks to Pasadena City College Environmental Science students and Civiltec Engineering, Inc. for coming out and giving back. Working together we were able to clean at least a couple hundred pounds of trash out of the Arroyo today!
These are just a few of the oak trees we've grown at Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery from acorns collected at last year's Acorn Festival. Help us grow more by bringing your acorns to the nursery on Saturday November 12th!
