Ever wondered what kind of toothpaste an elephant would use?! 🪥🐘 5th graders found out this week when they put their study of chemical reactions to the test by creating a decomposition reaction with hydrogen peroxide, resulting in a foamy substance fit for an elephant’s toothbrush! 🧪 The class used scientific method principles to conduct the lab, measured the foam compared to a baseline experiment, and conducted a second trial based on their hypotheses (which involved changing a variable of the experiment such as using less yeast, a stronger concentrate of hydrogen peroxide, or using bubble bath soap).

Students donned their sunglasses for a surprise performance at lunch today outside the Performing Arts Center, where they performed Taylor Swift's “Shake It Off,” St. Paul’s Suite, Mvt. 1 “Jig,” Themes from Edward Scissorhands, and a Dua Lipa medley!

Do the Robot! Westridge 4th Graders Program Robots to Dance 🤖✨
Our 4th graders are learning to code programmable robots with EV3 Classroom, studying how two motors work together to create turns. Using logical thinking and problem solving skills, students worked in groups to code a “dance” for their robots to perform on Ranney Court!
Some groups programmed their robots to do the same movements simultaneously, but this group had a robot diva and backup dancers. 💃 Showstopping!
