A C I D S Your guide to chemical exfoliation: AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) a type of acid derived from sugarcane, milk, or fruit. AHAs peel away the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin, revealing the fresh new skin cells underneath. It also helps ingrown hairs from getting trapped under dead skin. AHAs break down the "glue" between skin cells, which allows them to be sloughed off. Types of AHAs: •glycolic •lactic •mandelic •malic •citric AHAs can cause photosensitivity (sensitivity to sun) AHAs are not meant for daily use. BHA (beta-hydroxy acid) a type of acid that is derived from willow tree bark, wintergreen leaves or sweet birch bark. On the surface level, BHAs help to remove dead skin by loosening the protein bonds between skin cells. They also have anti-inflammatory properties. BHAs exfoliate the pore lining so that oil can flow out more freely, preventing the build-up of dead skin and sebum that leads to clogged pore which potentially leads to an ingrown hair. In my opinion, the underarms are a MUST to be waxed ✨ Wondering what to expect the first time you wax your underarms? •the hair needs to be about the size of a grain of rice. •SOME people experience some pinpoint bleeding 🩸 This is normal and usually doesn’t happen on the second wax because the hair grows back significantly thinner. This is more common in people with coarse hair. •there are different layers of hair growth. Usually 2-3. The first time you wax (depending on the client), you will have a layer of hair growth that starts to grow back soon after your first wax. This is the second layer of hair growth. When you get waxed the second time the layers of hair growth will be on track at this point and you will stay smoother longer. Remember- consistency is key 🔑 Waxing your underarms every 2-3 weeks is ideal, some people can go even longer! There’s a method to the madness! 🤩 It’s important to properly know how to apply your skincare. To get the most out of the ingredients (and your money 💰) you need to know what order to apply! •cleanse— (double cleanse is always good) •tone— (toner/tonic/lotion) this helps to shrink pore size, moisturizes, protects the skin. •exfoliate— (2-3x a week) If your skin is properly exfoliated, your other products will be more effective! Pro tip- do not use anything with nutshells. (ie: st. Ives apricot scrub) Nutshells and other harsh ingredients can cause microscopic scratches in the skin and actually cause your skin to be rough! ***this also goes for your body**** •serums- layer thinnest to thickest in terms of texture.
