Every time I strap my car down to my trailer 😏😏
Custom Plumb National hung on 18 inch Hickory slim profile handle with fresh graffiti tagging. I think there will be more to come of this style. Throws great and looks sick.
Back at it lately after a brief hiatus. Might as well introduce two new axes to the family. First one I call Clubber Lang. It hits hard, intimidates with its appearance, but pities no fools. Next one hails from the land of ice and snow. Drakkor (I guess) is a high performance Hults Bruk profiled down and squared up with a fresh poured paint finish to clear make it go faster. Like it if you like em.
Closer look at the chopper I was swinging in the video. No stamp, rough finish, NOS handle from random lot, but it has been relentlessly tearing through oak that left 3 other axes in need of new hangs.
First time messing around with the Gen 2 Ace of Spades, one of WATL official throwing hatchets. Shaved down the profile thickness quite a bit, removed some of the back weight to maintain the rotation speed, thinned out and dyed the handle a beautiful burnished blue courtesy of acrylic inks, and finally slapped some octagonal lines into it and juiced it up with oil and wax. Im very pleased with the result and finally understand why there's so much love for the ace. It's a Lazer.
Been a minute since I've posted, but life gets priority sometimes. Just picked up this beautiful M.H. Jones & Co original print circa 1971. Condition is excellent. I'm keeping this one.
Maine axes just do it better. Two of my new favorite users right here. Snow & Nealley we**ie on a slim ash handle and an Emerson Stevens Double Bit cruiser also on slim ash. Makes the work easier than sitting back sipping whiskey... and let me tell you, that sh*ts easy.
Wow! Scored a beautiful quintet of clean shaving axes today. From right to left, I have quite the lineup. Firstly, my first Snow & Nealley wedge hung on a pencil thin Maine Ash haft that will go nicely with the trio of S&N felling wedges I've had for a minute. Then there's the mystery axe that just felt like it needed some love. Batting third and cleanup in the order are two Kelly's, a large Woodslasher and Red Warrior, the latter hung fresh today. Last but not least, a big boy Collins Legitimus, warranted and double stamped just for fun, which I also hung this afternoon. Feeling good about this haul. If you want one, hit the DMs with an offer.
Always trying to use some new exotic hardwoods to make wedges tends to always give some interesting results. This leapordwood wedge I just made from project scraps gave the result of never wanting to drive it into a handle. Its just too pretty... but alas it's destined for the axe life...

Having always been a fan of the Tommy Axe's slick lines and heavyweight performance, I wanted to make a comp thrower out of one for a while now. With a thinned out profile, lightened poll, and cherry red finish for the custom octagonal hickory handle, this Tommy Axe looks and throws with damaging intent. Gonna add it to the rotation for this week's league for a real test. As it happens, I have another Tommy head awaiting a similar build. That one is earmarked for a Gram Giveaway when this page hits 500 followers. So be sure to like, share, and tell your friends to follow if you like the idea of wielding a bad ass Tommy Axe just like this.
I'm gonna go ahead and mark this down as multi-tasking...
New buckle for my leather. 1981 Bergamot Brass Works/Siskiyou Leather and Buckle Works out of Williams, Oregon. Thats all I know about it other than it being totally bad ass!
Not every axe buyer wants hand carved handles and vintage stamps that cost more than a summer electric bill. That doesn't mean you can't put care and effort into a budget friendly build for a friend. New Era Collins Michigan Double Bit on a Truper handle with a little tlc. Ok fine, yes that's a purpleheart wood cross wedge... I'm only human...
Left: My personal thrower, Council Tool Flying Fox, refund on 17 in. charred maple w/ .5 mm baseball bat grip wrap.
Right: Vintage Genuine Norlund Tomahawk 2.75 lb axe head hung on 26 in. Octagonal Straight handle carved from White Ash, lightly burnished to accentuate grain structure. (Comissioned for WATL Big Axe League competitor.)
Just wrapped up this beauty 3.5 lb True Temper Kelly Works Vulcan today. It is hung on a 32" Bent Foot Hickory handle courtesy of Sequatchie Handle Works and woodworking store. This is a heavyweight razor blade of an axe and, with the half burnished and soon to be half wrapped handle, this would be one of the "edge-ier" axes in any collection. This Vulcan will be hitting the market soon, so feel free to PM for any early interest and offers.
Needed a good Ole fashion winter fire brain reset. I always find peace in the fire. Sidenote: Not sure when we got Cloud Dragons in Pembroke, but ill take it. Shadow effects never let me down.

Spoonmaker's Drawknife courtesy of Tools for Working Wood via Brooklyn, NY. Beautifully handcrafted from O1 steel, this is perfect for smaller projects, handle fitting, etc. I am beyond excited to put it to work.
When that rusty old chef knife cleans up into a beautiful Damascus chef knife...
The stamp may have seen better days, but its still Perfect...
Found a lovely new home for that Sawil Co steel wedge. It sits really well, swells the fit nicely, and just gives this Connie some real "Legitimus-y"... 😉
Wutchu know about that Fayette Plumb Nail Puller? Had some more fun time with handle remnants. That little giant handle is on its third axe now and everytime its a blast to throw. This guy leans towards the rare and limited side with zero question as to its performance and pedigree., dating to roughly 1865-late1870s... all axe nerds welcome with info or inquiries.
Got this beauty in a pick alongside some gorgeous Connie's that will be up here soon enough. Mann Edge Tool Co Warranted Knot Klipper. Just did a little light rust removal and it could be ready for action as is. Edge is pristine, a common trait for the Knot Klippers. The head hangs high on the handle which i intend to resolve, but its not going anywhere if it doesn't want to thanks to the Sawil Co fastener wedge. That things is new territory for me. Hopefully I can keep it intact to reuse with this axe cuz it is wicked cool looking and crazy functional.
100% sure each and every one of my hungover neighbors hates me today, but thays never stopped me before haha! Built out the rough structure for my axe target stand, worked on some handles in between periods of my back functioning properly, and then hung this badass 3lb Collins Homestead Jersey pattern on a salvaged 26 inch handle that deserved at least a second chance in life. Beefy, lightweight, strong, and fast are qualities you rarely find all in the same axe, but this one is definitely a quadruple threat to trees everywhere... Jan 01, 2021 and we are hitting the ground running (jogging with a little asthma) and it feels good (it hurts)...

Top Nine 2020... Happy New Year and peace the f**k out, 2020!
The beauty of cast iron Dutches is the versatility. Fire pit, stove top, hand warmer, scrap wood disposal, stand for a smaller Dutch that needed a de-rusting burn, and lawn art are just a few examples. I'm lucky my scrap wood right now is all hickory and cherry wood.
Went for a speed trial tonight. Took a rusty axe with a broken handle and a block of hickory to see what kind of result I'd get in the least amount of time. After cutting and shaping a handle, clearing the eye, fitting the handle, cleaning up/sharpening the head, hanging it, doing the finishing work, burnishing, and giving it a good drink of oil, this is the result. Start to finish, this took 2.5 hours and 2 beers. Both those numbers are typically 3-4 times higher when I go for a more relaxed pace. Im pretty proud of the quality to time ratio here. Now to try and bring up the beer numbers for the night.
What was a fully matured (but dying...) black cherry tree last week is now a pile of future woodworking projects. Felled it, chopped it, split it, and then chopped it some, and just finished a nice little stack for the wood to dry. I really enjoyed the entire process, and ended up with some really nice pieces for hatchet handles, spoon carvings, sculptures, and plenty of shrapnel for wedges and shims. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks for some hopefully beautiful work for sale.
With the gift giving season in full swing, we all know a special somebody that deserves a new axe. Whether they enjoy outdoor adventures, dominating their local axe throwing league, or just keeping a warm fire going, this vintage Plumb Double Bit could be the perfect choice. Hung on a 20 inch custom hickory handle in a vibrant blue finish and sharpened to a razor's edge, this versatile axe will serve its next owner well for generations. DM me for inquiries and offers.

Had fun building out a new personal thrower. After I took a Hudson Bay (believe was once a Collins before some butcher ground out the stamp...) and the Little Giant handle i sawed off a Plumb double bit, I shaped it and sharpened it until I ended up with this beauty. With a turquoise and titanium finish, the "Little Giant" weighs in at 2.5 lbs total, boasts a 4 inch edge, and hangs at 19.5 in. For an exceptionally long handle tomahawk, this was the quickest study for a new throwing axe I've had yet. Accuracy and consistency right out of the gate. This is definitely my new go to.
