Weโre excited to share the full grant details for another one of our 2024 winners, Hope Above Fear, and their project "Empower." With this $20,000 grant, they will create a powerful video highlighting the impact of the drug epidemic on Pensacola Bay area teenagers, featuring real stories from affected students and families. Starting in mid-July, the project also includes distributing resource pamphlets and motivational swag. Partnering with the Escambia County School District, presentations will reach all Escambia County middle and high school students and their families by December 2025, promoting crucial information on substance abuse and healthy coping mechanisms. ๐ฅ๐ช
Weโre excited to share the full grant details for one of our 2024 winners, the Center for Independent Living of Northwest Florida, and their "Equipment and Assistive Technology for Independence Program." This $20,000 grant will be used to purchase equipment and assistive technology, enhancing the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. With funding ranging from $200 to $1,000 per person, the program will support 20 to 100 individuals. Staffing costs are covered by state and federal contracts, ensuring sustainability through recycling and refurbishment efforts. โฟ๐
We're thrilled to share the full grant details for another of our 2024 winners, First City Art Center, and their "Sundayโs Child Inclusion Stage" project! This $20,000 grant will fund the construction of a 480-square-foot, handicapped-accessible, covered performance stage on their campus. The stage, complete with electrical service for band performances, will enhance FCAC's events, festivals, and programming while providing a much-needed venue for the greater community. Construction is expected to take two months. ๐ค๐จ
Weโre delighted to share the full grant details for one of our 2024 winners, Capstone Adaptive Learning & Therapy Centers, Inc., and their "Barkery Blooms" project! Starting with a 2018 grant from Sunday's Child, the Barkery has provided valuable job training for people with disabilities by baking and selling pet treats. With this $20,000 grant, they will relocate to a new facility and purchase restaurant-grade equipment. This move will allow for increased production and more weekly hours for student bakers, who earn $15 an hour, enabling them to gain essential job skills. ๐๐ช
Weโre excited to share the full grant details for another of our 2024 winners, Golden Elite Track and Field Club, and their "Moving Forward Together: Van Expansion Project." Since their 2019 grant, Golden Elite has grown to serve over 150 youth annually, up from 50-60. This $20,000 grant will fund an additional 7-passenger van, allowing more underserved youth, many from single-parent or grandparent households, to access their supportive track and field program. This initiative helps these young individuals thrive athletically and personally. ๐โโ๏ธ๐
โจWeโre thrilled to share the full grant details for one of our 2024 winners, Habitat for Humanity, and their groundbreaking "Pride Build" initiative! โจ๐ Meet the board! When asked what Sunday's Child means to her, one of our newest board members, Debbie Calder, had this to share:
โSundayโs Childโs mission of inspiring and promoting diversity and inclusion is near and dear to my heart. Embracing diversity and inclusion has always been a part of my life since I was a kid growing up as a military brat. It continued during my 31 year career at Navy Federal Credit Union. Iโm extremely proud to have worked for an organization that fervently supports diversity and inclusion for employees and members.โ
