After almost 15 years in business,
Jim’s Barbershop now has a new sign!

Peoria, IL (November 7) – After working for Judy Langley for nearly 7 years as a barber, Jim Hartter purchased Judy’s Barbershop in 2006. For over 13 years Jim has worked under the name “Judy’s Barbershop” – literally. The sign that has been above his shop since the mid 80’s has hung over the barbershop on North Sheridan in Peoria. Possibly the largest business sign on Sheridan (maybe Peoria).

Judy’s sign was made with small plastic tabs that were hung from the backboard, giving it a glittering affect. Over the years, through storms and general wear and tear, Jim has replaced hundreds of the small plastic tabs to keep the sign looking good. Unfortunately, after the most recent hailstorm the sign lost a little too many tabs, it was time for an upgrade. Thanks to some great work by the local printing company, PIP Printing, the sign was able to get that upgrade. While keeping the original structure in place, Jim replaced the facade of the sign with a new (no plastic tab) sign, boosting the current shop name – Jim’s Barbershop.

Jim Hartter (owner, Jim’s Barbershop) stated, “While I am excited for the new look, I do miss the old sign. I have been coming in under that sign for about 20 years and think back on Judy every time that I come in. I still have customers that have been coming into this shop since Judy opened it and are now bringing their kids and even grandkids in. While there might be a new look out front, customers can still enjoy the same laid-back welcoming atmosphere inside. That will never change.”

Open Monday – Friday 9:00A – 6:00P and Saturday 9:00A – 5:00P, Jim’s Barbershop offers cuts for kids ($10) and men ($14). They are a walk-in only business and do not take appointments.
