☀️ For #autistic children, #playing is hard. Understanding pretend play can be challenging… thinking that little plush characters can have voices and different emotions is not an easy concept… and playing WITH another child with these skills is whole other realm of challenging. 🧠 ♾️ These boys have been practicing ALL of these things! They have been learning the rules of playing WITH peers, understanding what this pretend play & learning thing is all about! We work a great deal on flexibility for both of them in their own ways to help them be more successful with peers & in the classroom. For one boy, 6 months ago, accepting the idea that a plush character could have a voice and YOU can pretend to be that character was not an option!
