You may have noticed that I have been absent from your feed for a short while. The reason is because my hubby and I were off celebrating our 20th anniversary in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This was our 2nd time to Jamaica; the first being on our honeymoon. So, I guess you could call this a "2nd honeymoon" for us. There's a reason we returned to Jamaica. The scenery is beyond stunning, the all-inclusive resorts are amazing and we love the Jamaican culture. 6 days was not enough of this paradise, but we sure were happy to return to our 3 kids at home. Here's a few highlights from the trip for your viewing pleasure. YA MON! πβπΉπ
Have you seen the new wedding "guestbook alternative" I am now offering? There's actually a little story about how this product came to be... My mom was a very talented quilter. She made many quilts in her lifetime and gave many away as gifts. While in the midst of planning my wedding a number of years ago, my mother came to me and said that she would like to make a special quilt for my husband (then fiancΓ©) and I to commemorate our marriage. I wasn't exactly sure what she had planned, but on the day of the wedding she brought little strips of fabric, along with a fabric pen, and had all of our guests sign the fabric strips. After the wedding, she sewed all of these strips of fabric together to make a beautiful quilt that served as a memory of our wedding. Now, fast forward almost 19 years and I had begun brainstorming ideas for a wedding line as part of my business. I had heard that "guestbook alternatives" are all the rage now. They come in many forms and serve the traditional purpose of keeping a record of who attended your wedding in a very nontraditional way. I began to ponder different ideas in which I might be able to incorporate this fun idea into my business. My thoughts quickly turned to that quilt that my mom had made for me many years ago. Suddenly, I realized that quilt was a guestbook alternative (long before the idea became popular)! I had never thought of it as such, since we did have a traditional guestbook as well. Then, BAM, the idea was born! You see, the idea of these 2 very different guestbooks is actually quite the same. My mother took strips of fabric (her medium) and had guests sign them. And, I am taking halves of cork (my medium) and having guests sign those for a memory that will last for years to come. And, the best thing about both of these "guestbooks" is that they are so much more than just a guestbook. Rather than a book that will most likely be tossed in a box or a drawer, these guestbooks are meant to be hung in
I'm working on perfecting my swirl. Zero drips on the outside of the glass. I'd score that a 10! ππ·
In keeping with yesterday's post, I'm still thinking about how grateful I am to be able to do what I do and to have the support of so many wonderful people like you. So, thank you! I took some time off after the holidays, but I am back in full production mode now. I can't wait to show you all the new products I have lined up for this year. Let's do this 2018! #ThankYou #desertcoastalstudios via ripl.com
Wow, what an amazing holiday season that was! You all kept me very busy and I LOVED it! I took a moment to reflect on Christmas morning and thought about all of the people who would be opening gifts that were made by my 2 hands. I am truly thankful and humbled. The reviews have been coming in over the last couple weeks. Check them all out here: desertcoastalstudios.com #ThankYou #desertcoastalstudios via ripl.com
