WOW! GRATEFUL! OVERWHELMED!

Those are the only words I can really articulate to sum up our 10 year celebration. 🥳

When I got home last night; I pulled out my gallon zip lock bag of pills and cried. I cried because I know so many women fighting this battle. I cried because even more people donated to ensure that we get treatment and mammograms for early detection.

Thank you, does not seem like enough. I pray that it is. To our sponsors, donors and vendors your direct contribution has already saved so many. Bremers, you took us over the top! Your generosity will not be forgotten.

Hey family hey! It’s update time. Remember this journey is about transparency too. I’ve been on a real struggle bus. I have degenerative areas in my C6/7, feet, knees, back and it’s affecting so many other things. The steroids got me looking like a 🐳 and I’m still walking like a sick penguin 🐧

I have started physical therapy and it’s going to be a journey. I know people see me out and they always say you look so good or I can’t tell anything is wrong.

That’s because I pop pills 💊 and I choose to live in the joy of life. This video is only to show you that I have these days of not being my best. This was a week ago. This is to show that my fellow survivors and metastatic warriors have days that do not feel or look like what you see.

This particular day Graylin was home and I was able to call him to help get me up off the ground.

Oh and we are celebrating 🥳 10 yrs of service on Aug 17th join us if you can.

Over the past couple of days I have gotten my bone scan which highlights the bones 🦴 spine and other “hard” areas. And I got my CT scan which highlights soft tissue and organs.

If you have the app from the hospitals then you know you get your results before the doctor👩🏽‍⚕️ Once I consult with my doctors and gain a full understanding of what it al means I will share.

Yesterday, I had the honor of sharing how the Community Foundation of Central Illinois Women’s Fund Grant has helped LTSF serve our community.

We are forever thankful for their generous support over the years. From me receiving a scholarship to complete my non profit management certificate at UIC to now partnering with LTSF so that low income and minority women receive the e best health outcomes.

Tonight our fearless leader was a guest speaker at the 2024 Pray for A Cure. She rocked the stage and blessed all in attendance. Keep living out loud metastatic warrior!

One of the reasons we work so hard to put on events like Sisters Rock and support our local Susan G Komen Memorial Affiliate is to share/support information.

When you see this screen shot below most people living with any illness would find it hard to pay this bill💵 . They would have to choose their heath over their rent/mortgage, food or other medication. 💊

Just the thought causes stress and anxiety. 😬

This particular medication cost about $16,000 per month. What you see below is my deductible. Obviously, I could never afford to pay this monthly. I would literally have to forgo this chemo drug, hope to get into a free trial or wait for the cancer to go untreated.

But God! 🙌🏽 I learned and qualified for a grant. This grant is renewable and covers my copay. When dealing with the rising cost of medication please ask the pharmacist, 🥼 doctors or friends about grants you may qualify for. In most cases you do not have to choose between food, rent, or light bill. Grants can take some of the burden of treatment off of you.
