MOXIE CATS RULE!!!
A Creative, Adventurous, Girl-Powered Group of Volunteers

Denise Williges (Ms. Denise) has been working in the field of education and childcare for 40 years with children of all ages. Recently, her focus refined to supporting and mentoring 4th - 6th grade girls, and with that she breathed life into Moxie Cats!

“Girls this age reminded me of my moxiest 5th grade self, before I crumbled in Jr High. So I asked myself…could a creative, playful, adventurous, girl-powered group be just what’s needed at this time in a girl’s life? Could I give them opportunities to stay connected in the midst of deep questioning and rampant self-criticism?

Moxie Cats is designed to provide girls with meaningful personal and social experiences that bring out their integrity and passion. This is the mirror to the self they feel proud of. In Moxie Cats, we challenge points of view, explore attitudes, and practice the building blocks for achieving goals.

Girls are on fire… I want to help them put their flame to purposeful, meaningful good in the world.

And that starts at home with girls making dinner for their families every week. It starts in our community with lending a helping hand to organizations that help people and animals, and being part of the teams that tend to the river and the trees and the air.”

To learn more about Moxie Cats, including how to donate or register for any of their programs, please click here: Moxie Cats or email: [email protected].

And look for Moxie Cats at the RTP Fall Workday on Saturday, October 14. They are planning a free, drop-in Craft Camp for the children of Volunteers (ages 3+).

EUREKA! (and MEOW!)

We found the perfect Moxie Cat Barn for our Afterschool Program. We're so excited! We are preparing to make some unforgettable memories.

If you're looking for a great group of girls 4th-6th grade for your daughter to belong to, you should come check us out. Our motto is Kind. Bold. Brave. Our Mission is to help others. How do we do it? We work together & we share our fun with other girls.

Moxie Cat girls are getting noticed for their good works in Petaluma. Find us in the August newsletter of Rebuilding Petaluma Together.

We've already lined up Fall and Spring dates to help Rebuilding Together Petaluma and Re-Leaf Petaluma. We will continue to be cuddlers at North Bay Animal Shelter, and to deliver gifts and smiles to many we meet. More opportunities will find us as we grow and expand with giving and sharing.

Moxie Cat girls have some fantastic opportunities to get involved in projects as we breathe life into our new barn space. They can use their artistic skills in interior decorating and painting; setting up the greenhouse and planting a vegetable garden; and enlivening a sleepy gazebo (We plan to have Mother-Daughter High Tea with biscuits and jam, and weekly secret sister circles in the Gazebo. Invitations for High Tea forth-coming).

There are fruit trees and nut trees, wildflowers and blackberries. Imagine the pies. Imagine the smell of the trees and the summer breeze. These are childhood experiences not to be missed.

" We are designed by nature to flourish through play. Particularly in tough times, we need to play more than ever, as it's the very means by which we prepare for the unexpected, search out new solutions, and remain optimistic."
Stuart Brown & Christopher Vaughan, MD - Authors of "Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul, 2009.

Moxie Cats Program starts September 5, 2023
