SEPTA is running more service more often to help support the City and region’s travel needs following Sunday’s I-95 collapse.

This includes increased capacity on the Trenton, West Trenton, and Fox Chase Regional Rail Lines by adding rail cars to scheduled peak service trains and added service on the Trenton Line. Market-Frankford Line trains will operate every 6 minutes during peak hours.

Parking continues to be free at -owned Regional Rail Stations and Parking Authority parking lots near SEPTA stations at Fern Rock, Torresdale, and Fox Chase are also free. Parking (500 spaces) continues to be free at Frankford Transportation Center.

So glad to see one of our SEPTA Bus operators getting the recognition they deserve. We know what a tough job you have. Bus operators across the country are the unsung heroes in the human service industries.

Carjackers were no match for a brave SEPTA driver and his 15-ton bus A SEPTA bus driver was heading north on Frankford Avenue when he braked to interrupt what appeared to be a carjacking in progress near West Thompson Street in Fishtown.

Let’s teach consent early.

While some will say that the consent of a child isn’t possible because of the power dynamic between children and adults, I still think we need to ask for a child’s permission before doing anything to their body, including touching their arm, shoulder, hair, or picking them up if they are babies/toddlers.

We can teach children “your body belongs to you!” And it’s your choice who touches you. When we do this we give the gift of bodily autonomy and the ability to say “no” if someone ever tries to touch them inappropriately, or abuse them.

We teach children to be kind and cooperate, but there might be times they need to protect themselves in ways that go against what we’ve taught them about kindness and cooperation. Make sure they know how to defend themselves before the abuse occurs.

Also keep in mind that abuse might come from a peer and not an adult. This is also why it is critical we teach children that they can’t touch someone else without permission.
