Hate crimes against Asian Americans have been steadily increasing during the pandemic. Some news and internet content have caused misunderstanding and exacerbated poor relationships between the Asian community and the African American community. We will hold a discussion that touches on
● how we got to this critical point of hate and racism,
● how we can end the madness,
● what’s been done so far, and most importantly,
● how we can rebuild the trust and live in unity.

Thank you all for coming on this early, cold Sunday morning. We are here today to stand in solidarity against school bullying and Septa negligence!

We are here to demand safety on Septa for all Philadelphians!
In December 2009, a dozen students at South Philadelphia high school, most recent Asian immigrants, were beaten up at school by their Peers. For months, the school administrators had known the growing tensions between the school's Asian-American and black students but had been "deliberately indifferent" to the problem.
Twelve years later, in November 2021, Christina Lu and a few boys, again of Asian heritage, were brutally beaten up on a Septa Subway.
Nothing has changed in a decade! And the Philadelphia school Admin has done nothing to protect our students.

Do the school administrators make the school safer?
The answer is NO!

On October 13, a woman was r***d on a crowded Septa train, and a month later, Christina Lu was brutally beaten up on A Septa Subway on a crowded train.
We ask Septa, what have you done to make the Septa safer?
The answer is NO!

I was at the Septa hearing yesterday, sponsored by our Councilman David Oh; Septa officials seem to know all the issues on safety, but What have they done lately to make it safer?
The answer is NO!

Enough is enough!
We demand that schools do something about bullying and Septa do something about safety!

We want it done, not tomorrow, not next month, but now!
So, the SEPTA ridership slipped, people are in fear of lives riding the Septa!
Our student lives in fear of bullying and racial attacks in school and out of school!
It is the 21st century in America; no one should be living in fear, no matter what race you are;
This is not what America is about! This does not live to the name of the brotherly love!

I call on Philadelphia School Administration, clean up your act, take up your responsibility; we want a safe school for our children!
I call on Septa, clean up or shut up! We don't need empty promises, and we want a safer transportation system!

I call on all Philadelphians, especially Chinese Americans and the AAPI community,

We must step up, speak up，most importantly, follow up!

1. Register to vote and vote on every election and vote for people who serve us with integrity.　Your vote is your voice!

2. Stay engaged, keep our voices heard: take the streets, your voice has power; our voices have power!

3. Be vigilant for yourself, your family, and each other. Don't be a bystander, be an upstander!

We ask for no more, no less; we ask to be treated equally with dignity! We ask for a safe transportation system for all.
Public safety is a human right! Safe public transportation is our right!　 A safe school is our children's right!

Septa, we are watching you! Philly School Admin, we are watching you!

Let us show the world that there is still love in the city of brotherly love, there is still love in the USA, there is still love in the World!
