Life's stress can take a toll on our health, and I've personally experienced this journey. For years, I battled low thyroid function, adrenal suppression, and the challenges of perimenopause. It impacted my well-being, sleep, and daily life.

What I've learned is that my body's response was a reaction to stress. I lacked tools to manage my energy during CONSTANT challenging times or high-performance demands. They should teach us that in school, college or post graduate school.

✨Navigating Sensory Overload in Crowds🌟

Big spaces and bustling places always made me uncomfortable. Going to Conferences, airports, malls and grocery stores felt overwhelming and triggered anxiety . Sensory overload can affect many of us in crowded settings.

For those who are highly sensitive, busy places can feel like an information avalanche, disrupting your energy. All that data coming into your field with no filtering systems can create havoc in your emotional and mental energy body.

My journey with energy medicine, breath work and shielding techniques have helped me navigate this information overload and find my inner calm. These tools prevent the emotional stimulus from taking over.

🌟 I remember the moment when I swam in the blue grotto in Capri. It was a year when I allowed myself to take three weeks off work to savor the fruits of my labor.

My practice was thriving, I had begun teaching, and I realized the power of appreciating what I had instead of yearning for what I didn't. Peace and freedom found me in that moment.

🌱 **What do Unprocessed Emotions & Spilled Curcumin have in common ? 🌟

🌿 Today, as I made my healthy smoothie I dropped my tub of bright yellow Curcumin on my floor!
I thought I had it all, it looked clean but as I wiped, more and more curcumin emerged. This struck me as such a great way to look at how unprocessed emotions linger within us.

When we brush aside discomfort, downplay feelings, or numb ourselves, these emotions don't fade away; they silently reside in our energy field. Similar to this Curcumin, hidden until it wasn’t 💕

Imagine this: a challenging moment arrives, an unexpected twist, and suddenly those stored emotions resurface, triggered and reactive.

🌟 Striving for perfection? It might be holding you back more than you think. 🌟

I'll admit it—I used to be a perfectionist, and it nearly cost me years of progress. But I'm a recovering perfectionist, and I've seen firsthand how it impacts women dentists and their teams. 🦷

Perfectionism is indeed the ultimate self-sabotage move. It erects barriers, hindering your ability to connect with both your team and your patients. In an environment governed by perfectionism, the office culture often becomes a place that doesn't feel safe for genuine interaction and open dialogue. 🚫🔒

I've seen this same perfectionism create a blame culture in my own office. It was a high-stress environment where employees were anxious not to make a mistake, which prevented them from being self-resourced and confident in their roles.

This anxiety also extended to our interactions with patients. They may not have felt safe having open discussions about their dental care because they sensed our perfectionist approach.

I realized that to change the culture in my office, I needed to change myself first. I embraced imperfection and encouraged my team to do the same. It was a game-changer.

Fast forward to today, where I'm proudly sporting the "Imperfectly Perfect" badge. I feel more authentic, and my energy isn't wasted on perfectionism anymore. Nope, it's all about creating, having fun, and just being me. And guess what? That ripple effect? It's spreading positivity and authenticity like wildfire! 🔥🌈

In my perfectionist past, this would have been a disaster, creating tension and blame with Naish❤️ (my hubby). Today, these boxes and paintings are just a project to be done, when I have time.

Client's Journey: Perfectionism at Work 🌟

✨Let's take a closer look at my client's story. At work, she felt like she had to do everything on her own, never asking for help. This approach created communication issues and an office culture where the team didn't quite function as a team. They felt she didn't trust their abilities, and this divide kept growing.

🤯This discord at work stemmed from deep-rooted unprocessed perfectionism. She believed that only she could do things "right," and this need for perfection acted as a barrier, causing her to withdraw and not trust her team's abilities fully. This pattern was established in her early years and her protective personality created a story “I have to be perfect to be valued in this world.”

🌪️These problems started spilling into patient communication, affecting their experience, and reducing overall productivity. Our client's energy was low, and she was always on the defensive. Not addressing this unprocessed perfectionism caused her to lose touch with her practice. She didn't feel healthy and began emotionally eating as a way to cope with the overwhelming pressure of being the "perfect" professional.

Wow 🤩 This was a year ago. This memory took me back to that moment and I have to share this with you all💕

My unexpected climb up Machu Picchu, life often presented me with a physical challenge but in reality it was hugely mental for me 🧠

Last year, the call of adventure led me to that breathtaking summit in Peru. With little preparation and physical limitations, I embarked on a journey that pushed me beyond my comfort zone.

My knees and ankles protested every step, reminding me of my Achilles tendon issues. What should have been a 4-hour ascent stretched into 6 as I carefully navigated narrow paths, fearing a misstep that could lead to a fall. Yet, despite the odds, I persevered.

As I reached the top, a moment of stillness enveloped me. Eyes closed, palms open, I connected with the sacred energy of the mountains around me. In that tranquil state, the universe rewarded my determination with a magical surprise. My husband's voice broke the silence with a joyful exclamation, prompting me to open my eyes. There, nestled in my palm, was a small, pristine white feather—a symbol of the magic and resilience that exists within us.

This journey taught me that we are far more capable than we believe. Just as I conquered the heights of Machu Picchu, you too can overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable. Every challenge is an opportunity to tap into your inner strength and embrace the magnificence that resides within you.

The best sleep position for your dental sleep patients is.....

We all know that sleeping on your back is not good for snoring. When treating your patients for Sleep issues, it is super important to look at the positional data in the diagnostic sleep study report.

Need help in understanding what that means?

I am here to help!

First, make sure that the Sleep testing units used by your Sleep MD or yourself have this data.

You will be surprised at what you may discover. For example, my test showed I had experienced fewer apneas when sleeping on my back. My apneas increased when I slept on my right or left.

I spent so much time trying to not sleep on my back before I was tested and diagnosed.

Please look at your Positional Sleep data for your patient. Share with them what they can do and how that will help them with their overall sleep therapy.

An appliance will help, but we can improve outcomes when we pay attention to the details.

I found that a lot of patients are tracking their sleep with smartwatches.

A few years ago, I had a patient, that swore she slept well because her Apple watch told her she did. In my mind, I questioned it because I saw her yawn multiple times. She was low energy and she had dark circles under her eyes.

Recently, Apple came out with an announcement they are making changes. “The Apple Watch hasn’t been a great sleep tracker, but Apple is changing that with WatchOS 9.”

Currently, the Apple Watch can really only offer an estimation of the number of hours you’ve slept. The new update will show you precisely how long you were asleep and the time you spent in each stage of sleep.

Part of having a Dental Sleep Medicine program in your office is having a great follow up system and monitoring.

I would definitely look at using these devices to help your patients monitor their sleep and give you objective feedback.

There are many others on the market, such as:
- Fitbit smartwatch
- Fitbit Versa 2 Health
- Letscom Fitness tracker

Sometimes, the hardest part about adding Dental Sleep Medicine to your practice is getting started.

The good news is the easiest way to get started is to screen your existing patients on the schedule.

Screening your patients will help you build an internal dental sleep medicine program, put in place a team work flow, fine tune your clinical work flow.

You can combine restorative dentistry with dental sleep medicine.

I often hear that screening in hygiene is not effective for a few reasons:
- it takes too long, and too much to document
- my hygienist is uncomfortable because it is not dentistry
- patients don’t understand why the dental office is asking
about their sleep

I love taking these challenges and zapping them with my light saber. Yes, I am a Star Wars fan!!

Screening in your practice can be as easy as 1, 2, 3.
