Although very important since it makes up a third of your score(and can do major harm if not done) just paying your bills alone is not enough.

Other factors such as your credit mix, credit usage and debt to available credit among other things play a huge part in formulating your score & building that solid foundation.

With that being said, make sure to NEVER miss a payment ❌ 🚫 ❌ 1 late or missed payment can do major damage to your credit score

If your account is in good standing, start making it a habit to apply for a credit limit increase yearly.

An increase will raise your total available credit amount, lower your debt to available credit ratio and lower your usage rate/percentage..all of which will help increase your score.

It also strengthens what's known as your "creditworthiness" because it'll show that your can responsibly handle a larger portion of money.

#1 and #2 are crucial, so is #3.

Sometimes repairing your credit may temporarily reduce your credit score.

Reason being that the negative accounts you may have had removed, although negative, had years of payment history tied to them. Once those accounts are removed, all that account info and history goes with it.

The good thing is that eventually your score will bounce back over time once you properly manage your current accounts and add new ones (if needed) in order have a healthy mix/balance.

A common misconception when it comes to paying off a past due account is that the will just disappear.

Unless the bank/lender agrees to removing it or you dispute it, that account can stay on your report for 7-10 years. Damaging your score.

Don't think or expect that bank to remove it for you automatically. Be sure to request that they do so and double check that they stick to their word.

Rule #1 while working on your credit is to NOT apply for new credit, at least without consulting me first.

It's one of the worst things you can do. You run the risk of having your credit ran multiple times and dropping your score by a bunch.

Also, lenders don't like seeing a lot of inquiries in a short time frame on your report. It can prevent you from getting approved.

Just had a client complete the program. 4 months of hard work and score increases resulted in him reaching the 700's.

There's no time frame in this credit repair process but eventually the results will come.
