Jefferson Abington Hospital hosted the Grand Opening of The Market, which combines the convenience of a corner store with the style of a modern market. This new option for nourishment for employees, patients and visitors was made possible thanks to a generous $100,000 donation by the Abington Health Foundation Women’s Board and Auxiliaries. Pictured here are representatives of Jefferson Abington Hospital administration, the Women’s Board, and Aramark (which will manage the store). Eventually, employees will have 24//7 badge access so all shifts can be accommodated here! Thanks to everyone involved in bringing this “grab and go” option to our hospital community.

Mother who gave birth on Pennsylvania Turnpike reunites with rescuer: "He's my angel" 08/09/2024

In June, Andrenna Reid was driving on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with her toddler when the contractions she was experiencing started getting stronger. She pulled over and dialed 911, but in a matter of minutes she ended up giving birth in the front seat of her car. Thanks to a mysterious driver who came to her aid, first responders were directed to the scene and Andrenna and her newborn were safely transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital for further care. Andrenna never got the name of the mystery man who helped her that day. But it turns out it was Robert Stenger, a maintenance worker with the Turnpike’s Safety Patrol Team. Yesterday, the pair shared a heartfelt reunion at Jefferson Abington Hospital as they had the chance to reconnect for the first time since the surprise delivery.

Andrenna and Santana Reid welcomed their newborn son into the world on Father’s Day in quite an unexpected way. Andrenna was driving on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with their 1-year-old son when she felt her contractions getting stronger. She was able to safely pull over to the side of the road, but little did she know Baby Santana was ready to make his arrival. In a matter of minutes, Andrenna delivered her 7 lb 10 oz baby boy by herself in the front seat of the car. With the help of a passing tow truck driver, police and paramedics were called to the scene. Andrenna and Baby Santana were taken to Jefferson Abington Hospital and both mom and baby are healthy and doing well. Andrenna described the surprise delivery as “very surreal” but says she is relieved that everything went so smoothly and that she is thankful for the care she received.
