Two father-son pairs who traveled to Washington together on Jan. 6, 2021 are the latest Pennsylvanians to be charged for participating in the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Retired NASCAR driver Tighe Scott, 75, of Pen Argyl, and his son, Jarret Scott, 48, of Saylorsburg, were arrested by FBI agents Wednesday and charged with felony counts including impeding officers and interfering with law enforcement during a civil disorder.

Also arrested on similar charges Wednesday were Scott Slater Sr., 56, and his son, Scott Slater Jr., 26, both of Saylorsburg.

All four men face up to five years in prison if convicted on the most serious charges against them.

According to court documents, Tighe Scott was seen on police body-cam footage punching at one officer’s riot shield and attempting to rip a shield out of the hands of another. His son pushed back against police lines while wielding a golf club, hurling expletives at officers, calling one a “fat motherf**ker.”

Slater Jr. is seen on body-cam footage throwing a flagpole toward a line of police officers, striking one of them. Footage shows both Slaters, along with Jarrett Scott, pushing against officers’ riot shields.

Tipsters and online sleuths helped authorities identify the Scotts and Slaters, including one person who recognized Tighe Scott from his NASCAR career.

With the arrests of the Scotts and Slaters, 98 Pennsylvanians have now been arrested in connection to the Jan. 6 attack, and 53 have been sentenced. Three died (two by su***de) while awaiting sentencing.
