This was last year’s (two years in the making), so—no pressure for this year, current me.
Handturkey time again! Grab yourself a spare hand, trace, and embellish in your favorite fingers-as-feathers fashion. But if your tryptophan-induced haze means you’re leaning more toward filling in the lines, check out my archive of Handturkeys for your coloring fun: http://www.rebeccathornburgh.com/
Bought this collection of horror tales from JUST so I could read the babysitting story written by —which is absolutely just as disturbing and creepy as I’d hoped—but also, JUST LOOK at this incredibly cool boxed edition! It’s just magnificent. You journey through THREE grotesque, gorgeous illustrated slipcases before arriving at the beautiful leather(esque)-bound book. A treasure, indeed.
After-Halloween vibe.
Got a request from a school librarian for permission to use an image of Skoob the Shelf Elf in a design to make little 'brag tags' for her students when they've earned a "Golden Shelf Elf" award. Author Jackie Mims Hopkins and I were delighted and of course we said yes, as we always do! I made this little image for the librarian's use, and she shared some wonderful stories about how her kiddos love and believe fervently in Skoob. Lovely to know our Shelf Elf is still working his magic in school libraries!
.Peyton’s book talk about her wonderful picture book is about to start!
A spectacular book by the brilliant RW Alley, with everything there is to know about firefighting and the happy helping folks who do that work—meet them and so many other cheerful dwellers of delightful Breezy Valley.
I need to own this one—all the gorgeousness and drama.
The night before a vacation. CHillie, I’m sorry to be leaving you—truly thought we’d be done by now. Bear with me for just another few weeks.
With inking almost finished (to which many many acrylic pens gave their lives), a few of my favorite character clusters. (Note the frosted doughnut bush, a new planting in the Garden of Unexpected Shrubbery.)
All done with the blues (as in, shadows). Now on to minute details and outlining, all promising to be much easier with these super cool acrylic pens on board.
Blue leaves.
Giving this lil’ slidin’ lizard a tee in a whiter shade of…purple.
Sheep at their book club. On the head of a polar bear.
Gotta love the metafiction, right?
Here’s a way to support this wonderful family in their time of sorrow and struggle—thank you. 💙
Excited to share the cover reveal for author (and my good pal) Bobbie Peyton’s fantastic debut picture book!
