A Paper Garden (Excerpt)
The 2011 Philly Fringe Festival meets delightful French fare in this witty and richly imaginative play created and performed by Aaron Cromie, Geneviève Perrier, and Mary Tuomanen. Near Sabin's futuristic greenhouse, an improbable story unfolds between the charming naturalist Empress Josephine Bonaparte and the intrepid botanist-explorer André Michaux, who spent 11 years searching for North American trees that could help re-forest France. Michaux's cantankerous assistant bumbles his way through the twists and turns of the transatlantic friendship that blooms in this clever time-twisting, globe-trotting piece combining fact and fancy.
