Had the privilege of showing up to my daughter’s recorder recital at her school this morning. It was her first real musical performance and I couldn’t be more proud of her!

Just wrapped up a busy week full of teaching guitar/music lessons! I taught 50 lessons to students across 16 different states and 2 countries. Although this line of work comes with its set of challenges, I am definitely blessed to be able to do this for a living and I try not to take it for granted.

Wrapping up another week full of teaching guitar! 46 lessons, students from 17 different states and 2 countries. It’s incredibly humbling that I get to do this for a living. Today will be a personal record of lessons taught in a single day (barring any last minute cancellations). 15 lessons on the schedule with people from 8 different states (AZ, CA, TX, WA, OR, MA, GA, and NY) as well as someone from the UK. 2 lessons down so far, 13 to go!

Every year, I do this fun guitar activity with my students called Guess the Christmas Song. You have to play the notes yourself (must know how to read tab!) to figure them out! With over 15 years of experience with teaching guitar, I have observed several common struggles that beginners experience….
1.) Strumming/rhythm
2.) Changing chords smoothly 3.) Controlling their pick/hitting the right strings. 4.) Playing songs with the song in the background. 5.) Increasing speed/tempo. Hey everyone! My name is Matt and if you can’t tell by the name, I am a guitar instructor! I’m originally from Portland, Oregon but now live with my wife and two kids in Phoenix, Arizona. This is what passion looks like. I ordered 500 business cards and 500 picks to distribute to all the neighbors, offering to help them with anything guitar related. Plus to promote my website (link in bio!) Already passed out 100 earlier this weekend. These pictures represent the other 400. Hoping to get all these passed out this week! Excited for the opportunity to help people with their guitar journey in a more local level!

It may have been 110 degrees out this afternoon, but I had a great time handing out guitar picks and business cards to all the neighbors with my daughter!

Did some filming late last night in the backyard for some social@media content. Pretty fun!

Only 5 lessons today, but still kept busy with filming 2 videos for social media as well as 6 lesson videos for the website! Needless to say, I have a lot of editing to do tonight. Here’s to working hard at something you’re passionate about!
