Mosquito-borne diseases seem to be everywhere this year. Towns in Massachusetts are shutting down public parks and other outdoor areas after officials learned that mosquitoes in the region are carrying eastern equine encephalitis, a rare but deadly virus. And Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former top infectious-disease expert in the U.S., recently was hospitalized with West Nile virus that he allegedly acquired from a mosquito buzzing through his backyard.

Why Mosquitoes Are So Dangerous Right Now A perfect storm of conditions is making mosquitoes, and the diseases they carry, a big threat to human health.

HOW TO CLEAN NOZZLE TIPS

First you will need 🔧 two crescent wrenches to take the nozzle off the tee.

You do this by putting one wrench on the body of the tee and one wrench tip of the nozzle and twist to break the tip loose.

Once the tip is removed then use your fingers to loosen the brass filter on the backside of the tip. If the filter is stuck on then use a pair of pliers gently ot remove the filter.

Now that the filter is removed, there is a slot on the backside of the tip that is for a flat head screwdriver. Remove this piece carefully because it si spring loaded. Once it is unscrewed the remaining part will fall out.

Place everything but the rubber O-ring in distilled white vinegar and let sit for 24 hr. then rinse and scrub clean with an old tooth brush.

Reassemble the tips and they should work like new. If they don't, you will need to replace them.

3 Common Insecticidal Fly Spray Ingredients

The following three ingredients are the most common:

1. Pyrethrins (natural) are botanical insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers most commonly found in Australia and Africa. They work by altering nerve function, which causes paralysis in target insect pests, eventually resulting in death.

2. Permethrin (included in the class of Pyrethroids) is a synthetic chemical insecticide whose chemical structure is adapted from the chemical structures of pyrethrins and act in a similar manner by altering nerve function, which causes paralysis in target insect pests, eventually resulting in death. Pyrethroids are modified to increase their stability in sunlight. There are more than 1,000 different pyrethroids in use today, though less than a dozen are available in the United States. Permethrin being the most common used in fly spray.

3. Piperonyl butoxide (PBO) is often included in topical insecticide formulations to enhance insecticidal activity. It is the most common synergist used in conjunction with Pyrethrin and Permethrin.
