2023 was a year of blessing lots of Gold Star Kids through support boxes and professionally installed Christmas lights! We were able to put up lights for 10 local family homes and hope to double that number this year. These kids’ Christmases were a little brighter thanks to all of our supporters and we can’t thank y’all enough!! 🙏🙏🙏
Also a big shout out to Sandhills Holiday Lights for your hard work and dedication to our Gold Star families!! We couldn’t do it without y’all!! 🙏❤️

This Thursday will be 4 years since Kyle left this Earth. That statement is still as hard to believe today as it was at 4 days. 😔
We will never get over the deep hole that Kyle’s death left in our lives but we are so grateful for the promise that we will be with him again and that this pain will only exist in the Earthly realm. 🙏🏼
Our kids and I try everyday to make Kyle proud and one of the greatest ways that we do that is by running the Kyle Evans Let it Shine Foundation.
This Foundation has been a beautiful source of healing for us and has been such a ministry to many others. The kids love helping me fill the grief support boxes that we distribute to Gold Star Kids. And this past year, we were so excited to get to provide professional Christmas light installations to several local Gold Star Family homes. This coming Christmas, we hope to LIGHT up many more homes and continue to grow this exciting support element every year. ❤️🌟

This week, I will be sharing several opportunities to honor Kyle’s life and support our mission!! These include the 21 Gun Salute workout, t-shirt sales, and our Annual Memorial Weekend Fundraiser Auction that is filled with a variety of AMAZING items!!

The 21 Gun Salute workout was started by an amazing group of women the year that Kyle died and we have continued sharing this every year as a way to move your body while honoring our Hero. 🇺🇸💚

After two weeks of reflecting, we honestly can’t say enough good things about our big in-person event! From the venue to all of the attendees, laughs and memories-it was a weekend that we will never forget!! The year Kyle died, I wanted to be as far away from Christmas as possible. It was such an emotional time as Christmas holds some of our most precious family memories. It was truly too much to even think about putting up a tree or lights. I know so many of my widow sisters feel the same heaviness with the holidays. The second Christmas without Kyle, I decided that I would go as over the top as I could for our yard. I wanted to make Christmas as magical as it could be for our young kids. We got 8 giant inflatables that were each in someway related to Kyle and the things that he loved and we decked out the yard with red, white, and blue Christmas lights. It was a ton of work, that I honestly wasn’t up for, but I loved seeing how it lit up our kids lives and hearts in a magical way. This past year was our 3rd Christmas without Kyle. It was the hardest for me. As our kids get older, it’s so easy to imagine all of the ways that Kyle and I would make the season so special for them. His absence was even more profound this Christmas than the past 2 years. I still decked out our yard for our kids, but with every light strand hung, my heart ached a little more. And from that pain, I thought of a way for our Foundation to truly “Let it Shine” for Gold Star Kids and their families. Beginning Christmas 2022, we will offer professional Christmas Lighting services for Gold Star family’s homes that include young children. Our hope is that this new support element will provide joy, light, and peace for these precious kids during an especially difficult time of year and we also pray that it helps the surviving parent by relieving this overwhelming and often emotional task. Being a Gold Star Spouse is the ultimate fear of every military spouse, but sadly for many, the title of “Gold Star Spouse” becomes their reality. After 34 months of holding this title, I can truly say that I have experienced so many blessings because of this gut wrenching reality. I would never exchange Kyle’s life for any of them but I am so grateful that God has continued to show his love even in the midst of unimaginable pain. One of my greatest blessings has shown it’s light so much in the last few weeks. Two of my dearest friends have experienced tragic losses in their lives and because of losing Kyle, I am able to truly empathize with them. I don’t shy away because it’s uncomfortable but I now lean into their pain and sit with them through it. It’s a gift that I am truly grateful for and I thank God for allowing my heart to be open to other’s grief and pain. That very thing is my driving force for this foundation and I pray that God continues to allow us to shine light into the lives of others.

The big weekend will take place at the beautiful Rocker B Ranch in Graford, Texas from Friday, May 27th through Sunday, May 29th. Come share memories, make new ones, and fellowship with folks under the big Texas sky (a place dear to Kyle) all while supporting our mission to help Gold Star Kids.

The weekend will be filled with all things American and all things Kyle - delicious Texas cuisine, drinks, friendship, music and healthy competition! On Saturday, teams made up of 4 adults will fight to win the Tex Cup through events that only Kyle would approve: dizzy bat, corn hole, volleyball, golf driving range, beer pong, shuffle board, relay races and much more.

Weekend passes and Saturday only passes are available. The entire family is welcome, but please note that Saturday’s competitive events are for adults only. The lifeguarded pool will be available for kids, and babysitting will be available for an additional fee.

The weekend kicks off Friday evening and runs through Sunday morning, with the option to purchase Saturday only tickets. The weekend will be filled with all things American and all things Kyle: delicious Texas cuisine, friendship, music, silent and live auction, and a little healthy competition! On Saturday, teams made up of 4 adults will fight to win the Tex Cup through events that only Kyle would approve! All competitive events will be done with a 4 person team (so start building your team now!!).

We are so devastated by the lives lost today in Kabul. Our hearts are so heavy for all of the families that are getting that knock on the door that every Military family dreads.
