Rutgers University Business for Youth
We are a student-run mentorship organization at Rutgers Business School. There is a resource that we are not tapping.
That resource is the high-quality, motivated student who attends school but lacks supplementary guidance and support. It is not that these students are being ignored. The teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators in the schools these students attend are aware of the talent within their schools. The issue is that these students do not have adequate exposure, beyond their school environment,
We are halfway through this semester of RUBY, and the Elizabeth high school students are blowing us away with their business ideas. So excited for this year's Business Plan competition!
Had a fun afternoon at Carteret's Disability Awareness day ☺️
This morning, we had our mentor orientation for this semester! We cannot wait to begin our business plan classes with the RUBY sophomore high school students next week
We went over the elevator pitch, interview skills, and building a resume over pizza!
We are proud that we were able to help put together such a great networking event last night. Over 45 professionals from companies such as Deloitte, Bank of America, Bloomberg, and Target were in attendance, and there were over 200 Rutgers students! Thank you to PBL and all of the other co-sponsoring organizations for making this event a HUGE success.
This past Friday, Rutgers PBL hosted it's most successful networking event where students were able to network with professionals from many companies like Bank of America, Barclays, Johnson & Johnson, and many more!
11/30/15 College Prep Day with RUBY Juniors from Elizabeth, NJ. Had a blast!
Had a great time with our RUBY seniors from Elizabeth, NJ yesterday with a fun college essay tips class with Rutgers student mentors and RUBY E-board. It was great seeing so many familiar faces!
We also had the pleasure to speak about business careers yesterday to New Brunswick elementary school students.Thank you to Rutgers PilotMe for hosting such a great event! :)
Yesterday we had the opportunity to host a panel, tour, and lunch for 30 high school students from Washington DC at Rutgers. A huge thank you to BUILD for this great opportunity and to Dean Markowitz and all of our great panelists!
Thank you Nordstrom for hosting a great tour and info session for our high school seniors. We had such a great time and learned so much.
Tomorrow morning, Rutgers University Business for Youth is going on a trip to the Freehold Raceway Mall, to get a personal tour of Nordstrom and learn about the retail business and career opportunities available there. We are leaving at 8 am from Rutgers and we will leave Nordstrom around 11 am. There will be ~15 RUBY high school students who are also attending the trip, so this will be a great opportunity to give back by inspiring students that are younger than you. Please message us if you are interested in going with us.
Walking for education!
Had our mentor orientation today! Excited to meet the mentees next week 😄

Hello everyone! Just a friendly reminder that we will be having our information session TODAY in brr room 5105. Come to meet RUBY's current executive board and learn about opportunities to get involved as a mentor, volunteer, or executive board shadower.
On 9/21, President of RUBY Melissa Diep and RBS' Office of Career Management Director Gino Gentile had the pleasure to visit Democracy Prep Congress Heights (DPCH). Melissa and Gino attended the 2nd grade "Rutgers" class, taught by Rutgers' graduate Jessica Butler, and they presented the scholars with Rutgers SWAG and "knighted" them. The DPCH scholars countered with their own cheer based on the RU cheer and sang it, in honor of Rutgers. Lyrics are below!

DPCH is a K-6 public charter school in Washington DC that is part of the Democracy Prep network of charter schools (http://democracyprep.org/). The mission of DPCH is to prepare all of their scholars to work hard, go to college, and then change the world- a mission that goes hand-in-hand with RUBY's. This mission is especially daunting because DPCH serves predominantly low-income students from Southeast DC. Serving scholars from a historically under-served and marginalized community, the goal at Democracy Prep is not just to close the achievement gap; they also aim to equip their scholars with the personal characteristics that will prepare them for success in life.
Each class is named after a college, to help the scholars put a face to college.
Our first information session will be on Monday 9/28 from 5-6:30 pm in BRR, room 5105. See you all there!
Come out and support the sophomores as they present their finalized business plan competitions to their family, friends, and judges. Saturday, December 6 at noon in RBS 1071. See you there!
Displayed are photos taken from RUBY's first set of classes of the fall 2014 semester.
Thank you to all the students who did an outstanding job and everyone else who has supported this organization throughout the year.
Today, Rutgers University Business for Youth took home a Rutgers Scarlets Award for having the most Outstanding Community Service Outreach Program, which is our bi-annual Business Plan Competition! We are so excited for next year and hope to take home many more awards in the future!
