Reminder: there will be no Team Trivia in Greentree this evening.

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 06/30/2023

A good time was had by all last night at Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's! The duration of that good time varied by your position in the room and role in the game.

"We Don't Know" took the top spot so we owe them a gift card.

"Big, Big Energy" took the silver medal! They brought an existing gift card and were recharged for their victories last night and earlier in the month.

The best team name of the night was "Oklahoma City Bomb Kurt Cobain Pokémon" and they came in third place.

"Farm Friends" took off early but is welcome back any time and their first drinks are on me.

"Dixie Normus" took a big risk on the final but it did not pay off!

I heard some pernicious rumors about the end of Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's approaching soon. Rest assured, I do not know anything about this. If they end up being true, I will let you know through the normal channels. As of right now, I am planning on returning next Thursday at 8 PM!

Arnel will be hosting at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar as per usual on Tuesday at 8 PM!

Life is short; make time to enjoy the trivial things!

What day is today? Today is Thursday! What a day for Team Trivia, at Sneaky Pete's!

This is your call to arms, beautiful people!

8 PM game time. The beer is cheap and the food is good so feel free to show up with plenty of time to spare.

Bring this Answer of the Night with you: Polar Bear.

Here's the official Team Trivia Answer of the Night and here's a personal picture I find a little sexier for your viewing pleasure.

Bring your friends, bring your enemies, just don't bring my enemies. I hate those guys.

Remember: if you are owed prize money and have an existing Sneaky Pete's gift card, please bring it so it can be reloaded!

We had an international affair at Team Trivia last night at Sneaky Pete's! Some travelers from Canada were in town for a baseball tournament and joined the high-flying trivia action while they were around! They left before halftime because a lot of them were children but the "Wildcat Parents" had a perfect 27 points through Round 3!

"9/11" found themselves on the podium again but first place still eludes them. They took second last night after standing on the final.

"The Negs" saw their ranks decimated by other plans and vacations but still found their way to the top spot!

"Ryan is a Bird" which I believe was an "Always Sunny in Philadelphia" reference took a silver medal, just like Nancy Kerrigan in '94 but with significantly less clubbing.

If you have an existing Sneaky Pete's gift card and are owed a prize or prizes, bring the gift card in and they can recharge it! If you do not have an existing gift card, more are on the way but we can also likely work something out!

I have a Google Sheet going with our June IOUs and I hope we're all caught up by July!

Come see me again next week on Thursday at 8 PM at Sneaky Pete's! Arnel will be hosting as normal at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar at 8 PM on Tuesday!

In an effort to better connect with the youth of today, I will be posting team photos and Answers of the Night on Instagram! Follow on Instagram!

Life is short; make time for the trivial!

It's Thursday, my dudes! Come on down to Sneaky Pete's for another exciting game of Team Trivia hosted by yours truly, Ian Lauer AKA (not widely but maybe someday) DJ Chadrock! Game time is 8 PM.

Eat, Drink and Bill Murray!

I Lionel Hutz'd the Answer of the Night: Salvador Dali!

See you at Sneaky Pete's!

We had another splendid time playing Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's last night! We had four teams plus the staff team! Everyone crossed the finish line with varying degrees of success!

"The Negs" won top honors followed by their spinoff team "The Real Miami" (not named for the soccer team, which isn't even called that, but for the University of Miami of Ohio). Newcomers "To Be Determined" were in fact determined enough to take third place. "Jamokes" fought hard all the way to the end but couldn't quite get there. There's always next time!

Next time will be this coming Thursday at 8 PM! If you have a mighty need for Team Trivia in the meantime, you can join Arnel at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar on Tuesday at 8 PM!

Life is short. Make time for trivial pursuits. See you next week!

Another Thirsty Thursday means another synonym for exciting game of Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's! 8 PM is game time but come early and bring others to enjoy an affordable combo of eats and drinks!

I'll be up on the BIG SCREEN and in surround sound with my carefully curated playlist which includes a couple of Jimmy Buffett tracks, one from Samuel L. Jackson, some pop, some rock and the Teletubbies theme song!

Bring this Teletubbies Answer of the Night: Laa-Laa!

See you at Sneaky Pete's!

We celebrated my Team Trivia anniversary in style! Half a dozen teams started off on their Team Trivia journey, many for the first time! Though only five crossed the finish line, I think everyone learned a thing or two and had a great time! I know I did!

I don't know what I did this week to inspire such a good turnout but I'd sure like to do it again! I'd sure like to get into the double digits again some time soon.

Team Trivia begins at 8 PM on Thursdays at Sneaky Pete's! They have all kinds of events going on throughout the week! Come see a show or sing some karaoke! But don't forget to come see me, Ian Lauer, on Thursdays for your weekly dose of trivia, mirth and cursing into a microphone!

"Big, Big Energy" took the top spot last night, followed by birthday boy Tony and "Speak Easy Pete's" in second! "9/11" risked too much on the final and dropped from first to third but still had my favorite team name of the week (if we can't laugh a little at tragedy, the terrorists truly will have won) and won the nonproprietary beverage-based randomizer prize!

I've truly been enjoying hosting Team Trivia and I hope that all of you have been enjoying playing with me! See you next Thursday! Here are pictures of all six teams from last night.

06/08/2023

Wow! I can't believe I've been hosting Team Trivia for one year already! We've certainly had our ups and downs, more ups than downs I hope, but we're still here!

Sneaky Pete's. Tonight. 8 PM. You know the drill. I think we can beat last week's attendance. Will we set a new record in the double digits? Perhaps, perhaps.

Bring your friends, bring your enemies, just don't bring my enemies! Also bring this Answer of the Night: New Hampshire!

See you there!

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 06/03/2023

Team Trivia can be fun with only two teams. Do more teams make it more fun? Probably but I think both teams that came out on Thursday had a great time! We played a beautiful head-to-head game and the inaptly named "Team 3" took the top spot over "Big Big Energy"!

Come see me again on Thursday at 8 PM and catch Arnel's local news famous game at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar on Tuesday at 8 PM!

Here are some pictures of your winning/participating teams from Thursday!

It is Thursday. Somehow it is June. I've been hosting Team Trivia for almost a year.

Come celebrate by playing a game of Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's at 8 PM!

Food, fun, friends. Pizza, beer, wings. It's a good time!

Tonight, there will be a "Rocket Man" round! What does that mean? You'll have to come play to find out!

Bring this Answer of the Night with you: Denmark!

We had a pretty great turnout on Thursday! Here are the seven teams that competed for the top three spots as well as the ever-helpful Tiffany and Katie of Sneaky Pete's!

Come see me this coming Thursday at 8 PM right back at Sneaky Pete's! Arnel is hosting a special game tonight at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar if you'd like to support the striking newspaper workers! He'll also be back on Tuesday at 8 PM!

If you're ever wondering whether or not trivia is cancelled, feel free to reach out via to my personal account (Ian Lauer) Facebook Messenger! Odds are it's not cancelled but I'll let you know either way.
Life is short, take time to savor the trivial things!

05/25/2023

Oops. Trivia is definitely not cancelled! Here's the Answer of the Night!

Team Trivia
Returned to Sneaky Pete's last night!
Apparently, "The
Negs" had won three games in a row prior to last night!
So we probably should have come up with some sort of prize.

Really, though, isn't the knowledge of your domination enough
Inspiration to keep trying to win?
Good things must come to an end though and they did.
Hopefully, everyone had a great time last night!
Team Trivia will return next Thursday at 8 PM at
Sneaky Pete's!

We had some old faces and some new ones last night! "B***r Jams '03" took the top spot, followed by "The Negs" and "Scranton Stranglers"! It just goes to show you that a Steve Carell themed name is a great idea!

See you next week! If you have a hankering for some trivia in the meantime, Arnel will be hosting at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar, as per usual! 8 PM on Tuesday!

05/18/2023

Another Thursday means another night of Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's! The playlist is ready, the questions are written (not by me!) and it's almost time!

8 PM is game time so get there early and make sure you have a seat. You can play at the bar, at a high top, at a low top or even in one of the booths! No wrong answers (about where to sit)!

Bring with you this Answer of the Night: Architecture!

I will not be showing this Answer of the Night at the bar until after the question has been asked and answered. To those in the loop go the rewards!

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 05/12/2023

We had an excellent time last night at Sneaky Pete's! We had a potentially unprecedented double tiebreaker! First Place went to "The Negs" who guessed a slightly higher number than Second Place "Vacation Babes" for my on the fly question "How many lines are in 'Beowulf?'" A well-earned Third Place was awarded to "Pummeled Parents" who guess closer to the pin regarding what year aspartame was accidentally discovered which was the tiebreaker as written.

Thanks for coming out, everyone! Thank you, as always, to Katie, Jess, Tiffany and everyone working back of house! We couldn't do this without you! Well, I guess we could but it wouldn't be anywhere nearly as enjoyable without the food and drinks.

Come see me again next Thursday at 8 PM for another exciting Team Trivia contest and don't forget to vote on Tuesday before going to see play Team Trivia with Arnel at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar at 8 PM!

05/11/2023

After a long week of it not being Thursday, it is once again Thursday! Tonight is the night! Team Trivia is on at Sneaky Pete's!

Come early and bring some friends/potential rivals! The wing special is in place, the food is better than ever and I'll be up on the BIG SCREEN and in surround sound!

Momentum is building. Excitement is growing. Team Trivia is definitely a top ten way to spend a couple of hours and Sneaky Pete's is a great place to do it!

Game time is 8 PM. Bring this Answer of the Night with you: Keys.

See you at Sneaky Pete's!

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 05/05/2023

I made my triumphant return to Sneaky Pete's last night and so did "The Negs"! They took first place after "Vacation Babes" put a single point on the final and missed it. "Local 101" bet a little bigger and lost ten points. The Science!! final question was a difficult one to the benefit of our eventual winner.

"Meat Sweats" missed the podium but won the unofficial name competition and the beverage-based randomizer question! "Barflies" suffered from a little bit on infighting on a few questions but put up a well-fought resistance!

Come see me again next Thursday at 8 PM for another rousing game of Team Trivia! Life is short; make time for the trivial things!

05/04/2023

Joyous Star Wars Day to those who celebrate! To mix my major movie franchises and quote the inimitable John Wick "I'm thinkin' I'm back" to host Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's tonight at 8 PM! I took a week off and bailed on my day job for parental responsibilities but my lovely little baby will be safely tucked away with her mother and grandmother and I'll be bringing you 20 fresh questions deep from the heart of Atlanta featuring no fewer than three Star Wars questions and a halftime that I've accidentally been training you for for months!

Sneak on down to Sneaky Pete's tonight for Team Trivia! Bring this Answer of the Night with you: China!

04/28/2023

Folks, this is Arnel, Ian's "boss" for Team Trivia. I apologize for everything that went wrong last night. I was helping set up a different venue several hours prior to trivia at Sneaky Pete's when I started to have catastrophic laptop problems. After trying to correct the problems with my laptop for over an hour, I had to make the tough call of canceling. I had texted the proprietor and Katie. In my frantic frame of mind, I had forgotten that Katie was off. Once I had texted them that my laptop was crashing, I just continued to work on my laptop. Complicating matters, in my frustration, I slammed my phone. Physically, it is fine but apparently I gave approval to a setting that turned off notifications and froze my phone. Fortunately, it's not bricked and while working on my laptop, I also did a factory reset of my phone.

18 years of hosting Team Trivia and this is the worst that I have ever felt about letting you all down. I am sorry.

After several hours, my laptop is about 70-80% of the way thru the reinstallation process. My backup, by the way is in the shop and due back next week.

Timing is everything. Tonight was proof. I am sorry.

But I will be there, to apologize in person, next Thursday. And from there, Team Trivia will kick ass again.

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 04/27/2023

First, there was Nick, then Anthony, then of course, Ian, but for at least the next two weeks you get ME, Arnel, as your host for Team Trivia at Sneaky Pete's in Greentree! (Ian became a daddy last Sunday and has decided to forgo recreational sleep, lol.)

Can't make it to my Tuesday games at the Squirrel Hill Sports Bar? Well then, come down tonight and/or next Thursday to Sneaky Pete's and partake in Team Trivia with Arnel! On the Big Screen!

Heck, I'm even gonna give you a FREEBIE answer for tonight! And we've even brought back a shot wheel...

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 04/21/2023

Another game of Team Trivia is in the books!

Thank you for celebrating the next chapter in my life with me while enjoying one of my favorite games! I hope you all had as much fun as I did last night!

Have fun with Rookie Ross and Veteran Arnel filling in for me these next couple of weeks! I'll be back in May with more questions, at least that many answers and plenty of delightful bon mots.

"The Negs" took first place last night followed closely by "In The Cal-Zone"! I named the bar team Re**er Madness and they didn't need to play most of the second half to take third.

"What's that Smell?" fought hard, risked it all on the final and missed the podium by a couple.

Life is short; remember to make time for the trivial things.

04/20/2023

It's a party in the USA! Specifically Greentree, right outside of Pittsburgh! Even more specifically, it's a party at Sneaky Pete's! And by party I mean Team Trivia!

Come catch my last show before the birth of my daughter! The questions will be on the BIG SCREEN and in surround sound! Play at a booth, play at a table, play at the bar! Just play!

I'll be sharing my bespoke playlist where every song is on there for a reason! Game time is 8 PM! Don't be late!

You'll need this Answer of the Night: Miley Cyrus!

Photos from Sneaky Pete's post 04/14/2023

Sneaky Pete's was a lot of fun last night! I had the burger which was quite honestly borderline transcendent! The kitchen has come a long way from previous iterations of this venue! I've heard nothing but good things about their wings, as well.

Was that my last show before our baby arrives? Time will tell! If I'm off next week, Arnel will take good care of you in my absence! He's promised to keep up my Bonus Question tradition. He may even use my playlist!

We had five teams start and five teams finish because of an unprecedented full team swap at halftime! I'll do anything in pursuit of a more fun game and this was 100% the move.
Perennial podium favorite "Negs" took the top prize last evening!
"BBE" and the halftime substitution team "Yinzatorium" AKA "Oh No Yinz Dint" rounded out the prizewinners at second and third!

I'd like another game with a double digit number of teams again soon! Come again soon and bring others!

I'll see you when I see you, could be next week, could be May!

04/13/2023

It's Pucks and Bucs Day! That's good! The Pens are eliminated from the playoffs. That's bad. It's Team Trivia night at Sneaky Pete's! That's good!

Come join me to cheer on the resurgent Pirates and mourn the first Pens game that doesn't mean anything (in the bad way) since I moved to Pittsburgh in August of 2006! Game time is 8 PM.

Bring this Answer of the Night with you: Mazda.
Zoom Zoom.

You can almost hear "Vogue" by Madonna playing looking at some of these pictures!

Prizes were definitely awarded last night, perhaps not to the correct teams through all fault of my own. That being said, I'm not going to tarnish anyone's memory by correcting the results here. I will settle the matter privately later for an undisclosed number of beers, over an undisclosed number of beers.

I always say playing Team Trivia isn't about the prizes and it's not. It's about proving to yourself what you know and sometimes taking wild guess but it's mostly about the people. The people make this game what it is. If it weren't for all of you, this would just be me shouting into a microphone and drinking beers. Now, don't get me wrong, that sounds like a great time but if nobody's watching and listening, how sad would that be?

We had a good complement of teams last night. Somewhere in the vicinity of seven at its high point, approaching five by the end of things.

The game ran a little long last night but I'm going to blame that one on whoever keeps moving my cords.

I will be back either next Thursday April 13th at 8 PM or a couple of weeks after the birth of my first child if she's here on or before next Thursday! Either way, you'll be in Arnel's capable trivia hands in the interim, filling in for me at Sneaky Pete's on Thursdays once that proves necessary and hosting his OG gig at Squirrel Hill Sports Bar every Tuesday at 8 PM!

Life is short, make time for trivial pursuits. Here are some pictures of the lovely folks who make Team Trivia great!

04/06/2023

Ah, The Masters. The crown jewel of golf tournaments. I like to multi-cast Amen Corner, a few select holes and the most interesting group each day. And today, when I'm done with that and work is over, I'm going to Sneaky Pete's.

The serenity of The Masters coverage will be replaced with the cacophony of my bespoke playlist and my voice, in surround sound. Take this as a promise or a warning: there's an entire Jimmy Buffett Round tonight.

By request I will NOT be showing this post at the bar tonight. I will be talking about it at the top of the show and right before halftime but otherwise, you'll be left to your own devices, to follow us on Facebook or not to do so.

Regardless of whether you see this, and I hope you do, the Answer of the Night is and will remain: Othello.
