🎆 is a time to reflect on the invaluable gift of freedom and honor the courage of those who fought for our nation's independence. As we gather with family, friends, and fellow community members, let us celebrate the cherished values that define us as a nation.
“I had to detach the reins of my perceived control over circumstances. I had to trust God with my dreams and desires; broken and future relationships; the cleanup of my failures; and, the literal rebuilding of my life while I sought first the Kingdom of Heaven and the renewing of my mind."
Captain Michael Haynes, of The Salvation Army Pittsburgh Homewood-Brushton, shared his inspiring testimony in July's edition of The War Cry:
Masterpiece in the Making - The War Cry | The Salvation Army USA Until 2013, Michael Haynes was in a dark and terrible place. In his own words, he admits he “was, perhaps, at the lowest point in my life, living in what I call a ‘roach motel...’"
On this day in 1865 Rev. William Booth and his wife Catherine began the ministry in poverty-stricken London that would become today's Salvation Army. Learn more about our past, present and future: https://ow.ly/ljX150Somvk
The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division recently had the opportunity to host Lerma Agency, The Salvation Army's national PR agency of record, which is based in Dallas, Texas. During this whirlwind tour we visited our Divisional Headquarters, Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services of Western Pennsylvania warehouse, The Salvation Army Family Caring Center, and The Salvation Army Chartiers Valley Service Center. It was a great opportunity for fellowship and brainstorming ways to showcase our work across Western Pennsylvania and beyond. We look forward to amplifying our stories of service in the future!
