DANIEL SHRAGER: Today, we gather to honor and remember Dr. Daniel Shrager, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherisned grandfather, and esteemed psychiatrist.
For 60 beautiful years, Daniel was the loving husband to Marsha. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and unwavering companionship, a beacon of commitment and partnership that has inspired all who knew them. As a psychiatrist, Daniel dedicated his life to understanding and helping others. His work was not just a profession but a calling, one that he pursued with compassion, dedication, and an unyielding desire to make a difference in the lives of his patients. He was the proud father of three wonderful children, each of whom carries forward his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and integrity. His eight grandchildren brought immense joy to his life, and he often spoke of the profound happiness they gave him. Daniel frequently shared that he led a very lucky and happy life. His words remind us of the gratitude he felt for the love, joy, and fulfillment he experienced. It is this gratitude and happiness that we will carry with us as we remember him. Though he is no longer with us, Daniel's spirit, his love, and his legacy continue to live on in our hearts and minds. We honor his memory by cherishing the lessons he taught us the love he shared with us, and the happiness he brought into our lives.

DIANE E. CLARK: Age 66 of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away suddenly in her home early the morning of Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
Diane was a force. Born March 29, 1958, in Greenville, PA, she knew quickly she wanted more than she was told she should. After graduating from Thiel College with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Business Administration, she went on to Duquesne University School of Law in 1980. Diane didn't love law school, but she loved her new home in Pittsburgh and the friends she made along the way. After graduating in 1983, she practiced as an attorney in the city for forty years until she retired in 2023. Diane was a fierce, compassionate, and whip-smart advocate for her clients as they faced some of the worst moments of their lives through her practice in personal injury and family law. Her skill and drive inspired her daughter, Elena, to follow in her footsteps.
Diane was an avid gardener and friend to the wildlife who, despite her best efforts, ate the fruits of her labor. She has read every Sue Grafton novel and seen every season of the The Great British Bake Off Baking Show. She enjoyed knitting and baking, but adamantly did not enjoy cooking. When her children were young, she was an incredibly involved parent in the Fox Chapel Area School District Choir Department, and took particular pride in a costume she sewed a dozen knick-knacks into for the school's production of Guys and Dolls.
Diane loved the peonies in her garden, her treasured pets over the years, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Mary Tyler Moore. Most of all, though, she loved her children, Elena M**h and Nathaniel M**h, and husband, Jeffrey M**h, who survive her. Diane taught her kids to always fight for what you believe in, to be the first and last at any event, that you're never too busy to lend a helping hand, that you're never above getting dirt under your nails, and that there's very little in life that can't be helped by a quick dance party and some coffee flavored ice cream.
Diane is preceded by her parents, Hugh Clark and Rosellen Moller, her brother, Glenn Clark, and his wife, Annette, and her sister, Kathy Padrta.
The family is extremely grateful for all the kindness and well wishes sent so far. In lieu of flowers, due to the sudden and unexpected nature of Diane's passing, any donations to the memorial fund to help defray the cost of final expenses are deeply appreciated. Any excess will be donated to the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh's Injured Wildlife Fund (www.humaneanimalrescue.org). Details for a memorial service will be posted to Diane's memorial website (https://everloved.com/life-of/diane-ellen-clark/).

ESTELLE OLITZKY MANN: February 4, 1933 - May 26, 2024. Peacefully, on May 26, 2024, Estelle Olitzky Mann, beloved daughter of the late Louis and Tillie Olitzky. Devoted wife for 57 years of the late Melvin Mann. Loving mother of Andrea Mann Lowenstein (Michael) and Leslie Mann (Jennifer). Adoring and adored grandmother of Lauren Bauer (Nick), Rachel Hoekstra (Mark), David Lowenstein (fiancée Nesa), Natalie Mann (fiancé John) and Alexander Mann, and great-grandmother of Samuel Bauer, Emme Hoekstra and Ellen Hoekstra.
A lifelong Pittsburgher (except for one year at the University of Michigan before transferring to the University of Pittsburgh), and a proud resident for 55 years of Winterburn Avenue in Greenfield, Estelle lived her life with relentless and irrepressible positivity and enthusiasm. "What did you have good to eat?" Whether it was in her career as a substitute teacher, or with her limitless group of close and lifelong friends, her special Schenley Park Golf Course friends (where the bench on Hole Number 3 is dedicated to Estelle and Melvin), her many cousins in Pittsburgh, Cleveland and beyond, and most of all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, every day was a good day for Estelle, and every day was a little brighter for anyone who encountered Estelle.
For most of her life, this positive approach to life was manifested by laughter, smiles, conversation, and more conversation. Estelle was the life of many parties and always a strong contender for the last to leave, often to the bemusement of her loving and patient husband. "C'mon Gracie, it's time to go."
Even as Parkinson's robbed Estelle of much of her physical vitality and her ability to speak, it never diminished Estelle’s joy for life. Estelle enjoyed Bingo and Pokeno at Riverview and break out road trips to Big Jim’s for spaghetti Monday or Wendy’s for a Frosty. She remained faithful and devoted to all her Pittsburgh sports teams. “What channel is the Pitt game on?” But nothing made Estelle beam like seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she adored unconditionally and enjoyed immeasurably.
Estelle was a Lifetime Honorary Trustee of Temple Sinai, which held a special place in her heart. At Sisterhood activities, Friday night services, the High Holidays, Meals on Wheels, the Jewish Food Festival, and many other congregation functions, Temple Sinai was a central part of Estelle’s life, and Estelle and Mel’s life together. Temple Sinai was just one part of the many ways that Estelle Mann made life better for many people and left the world a better place than she found it.
Special thanks to Estelle’s caregivers, especially Mary Sherrill and Iris Marshall, everyone at Riverview Towers, and the many health care and community professionals who have been so helpful to Estelle.
Services and Interment Private. Contributions may be made to Temple Sinai, 5505 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217, or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. www.schugar.com

Cyril H. Wecht, M.D., J.D., 93, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife Sigrid, four children David (Valerie), Daniel (Anna), Benjamin (Flynne), and Ingrid (Harold), and eleven grandchildren (Dylan, Sophie, Zoe, Gabriel, Nathan, Jacob, Sarah, Alexander, Macey, Emma, and Jessica). Cyril was born in Pittsburgh on March 20, 1931 to immigrant parents Nathan and Fannie Wecht, and raised in Bobtown, McKees Rocks and the Lower Hill District. A standout student, violinist and athlete at Fifth Avenue High School, he graduated as Class Valedictorian and went on to the University of Pittsburgh, where he distinguished himself as President of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity, Concertmaster of the Pitt Symphony, Business Manager of The Pitt News, and President of the YMCA, among many other honors. After earning his medical degree at the Pitt School of Medicine, Cyril was called into his country's service, and proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. It was there that he met his wife Sigrid, herself an immigrant, who also was serving in the United States Air Force. After they both were honorably discharged, they married at Rodef Shalom Congregation in Pittsburgh, and lived briefly in Baltimore, where Cyril obtained his first law degree from the University of Maryland while working in the Medical Examiner's Office, and where their first child, David, was born. After returning to Pittsburgh in 1963, Cyril and Sigrid had three more children, Daniel, Benjamin, and Ingrid, and Cyril obtained his second law degree, this one at University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Cyril embarked on a long and stellar career combining his training in medicine and law, and his then-rare expertise in the nascent field of forensic pathology. Early on, Cyril juggled four jobs -- as a forensic pathologist/deputy at the Coroner's Office, as an Assistant District Attorney/medical-legal adviser to the Allegheny County District Attorney, as a pathologist at the Veterans Administration Hospital - Leech Farm, and as an attorney practicing with his friends David and Roslyn Litman. He went on to win election to several terms as Allegheny County Coroner, where he modernized the office and made it into an international model, attracting trainees from all over the world. He later served as Allegheny County's first Chief Medical Examiner. Cyril also was elected County Commissioner, County Democratic Party Chairman, and President of several professional organizations, including The American College of Legal Medicine, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the American Board of Legal Medicine, and many others. Cyril founded the Pittsburgh Institute of Legal Medicine and The Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University, where he taught for some sixty years. He was the first civilian permitted to examine the evidence from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at the National Archives, and the first person to discover that the President's brain, and related material, was missing. He was the nation's foremost critic of the Warren Commission's infamous single bullet theory. He personally conducted tens of thousands of autopsies, consulted and testified in countless criminal and civil cases, spoke around the world to professional, lay, and student groups, held several faculty appointments, authored dozens of books and hundreds of scholarly articles, and collaborated on numerous film and television projects, including the award-winning films JFK and Concussion. He worked avidly and expertly to discover the truth surrounding deaths and injuries suffered by others, and brought comfort and justice for countless grieving and victimized families around the globe. He loved Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, and, although he traveled the world, he never would consider living anywhere else (save for his two years of military service and his brief time In Baltimore after discharge). Most of all, Cyril loved his family, and made the happiness, well-being, and education of his wife, his children and his grandchildren his top priority in life. He also was blessed to share the love and affection of many close and lifelong friends and colleagues, most of whom have departed from this realm as well. Services, Interment, and Shiva Private. A public memorial service will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cyril's memory can be made to StandWithUs, www.standwithus.com, PO Box 341069, Los Angeles, CA 90034.
