The subsequent call for abstracts for the 2025 Annual Assembly is now open.

The Subsequent Call for Case Studies and Scholarly Works in Progress is specifically intended for professionals in training (scholars) or early career hospice and palliative care professionals to have an opportunity to present their peer-reviewed work at a nationally accredited conference in addition to having their work published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management.

The submission deadline is October 1.

Jeannette Kates, PhD, APRN, AGPCNP-BC, GNP-BC, FPCN is HPNA's September Volunteer of the Month!

Jeannette is an assistant professor of oncology nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and nurse scientist in medical oncology at Penn Medicine. She is currently a volunteer on the HPNA Research Committee and Awards Selection Committee. Jeannette has volunteered with HPNA since 2019.

In rural communities, access to palliative care can be limited or non-existent, leading to broad disparities in care for rural residents who are living with serious and terminal illnesses. This session will describe a partnership between a community-based organization and Oregon State University in development, delivery, and evaluation of a hybrid continuing education course in palliative care for CHWs as part of a broader vision of an Oregon Network for community-based serious illness support.
