On behalf of Mosaic Players, a nonprofit 501(c)3 traveling theatre whose mission is to validate and celebrate authenticity, visibility, and equality we are happy to announce for their fall production, they are proud to present the play 5 Le****ns Eating a Quiche, a scintillating satire of women's roles in the 1950s -- not to mention an unapologetic declaration of lesbi-independence!

During their tour, they will be bringing the production to nearly two dozen communities, including Plainfield on September 9, in the hopes of reaching folks who need to see themselves represented onstage regularly, realistically, and respectfully.

Here is the event info:

Plainfield Pride - Donate The mission of Plainfield Pride is to promote the idea of equity for Plainfield. We are one community; we will foster a family-friendly, diverse, inclusive, and equal community. We will lead the way in the community for all people–regardless of orientation, gender, s*x, race, religion, or ability....

What the election of an attendee at Jan. 6 riot means for Illinois GOP 08/05/2023

As originally shared by the Will County Democratic Party, "Will County Board Member Daniel J Butler attended the January 6 insurrection, violated campaign finance laws, and believes in baseless conspiracy theories. No wonder why Rep. Tim Ozinga and the Will County Republican Central Committee support him with thousands of dollars! "

What the election of an attendee at Jan. 6 riot means for Illinois GOP Once part of the wall of solidly Republican collar counties, Will County is now one of the last battlegrounds for the region’s GOP.

The Will County Pride Coalition wishes to condemn the Will Township in the strongest possible terms for allowing hate speech to be displayed on their town sign. The message, simply stating that "A man was crowned Miss Netherlands 2023" is false, defamatory, and hateful. It shows an extreme lack of acceptance for others unbefitting a local government, and doesn't represent the values of the people of Illinois. We Illinoians are not hateful and discriminatory people, and such speech is not only cruel and defamatory, but it also endangers people in our community. We call upon Will Township to put controls in place to ensure that such hateful and defamatory speech is never again promulgated on one of the township's official signs.

Rikkie Valerie Kollé, seen in the attached pictures, was crowned Miss Nederland 2023 (Miss Universe Netherlands 2023) on Saturday, July 8 at the AFAS Theater in Leusden, Nederland. She is 22, a model, and an actress. She is also the second transgender representative at the Miss Universe pageant next to Spain's Angela Ponce who participated in 2018. What she clearly is not, is a man.

Today marks the celebration of Juneteenth, a significant day in American history that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. This day is a time to reflect on the struggles and sacrifices made by our ancestors in the fight for freedom and equality. It is a moment to honor the resilience and strength of the Black community and to recognize the ongoing work that still needs to be done to achieve true justice and equity for all. Let us use this day to educate ourselves and others on the importance of Juneteenth and the continued fight against racism and discrimination. May this day be a reminder of the progress we have made and the work that still lies ahead. Happy Juneteenth to all!

Friends who are free, please come this Thursday and learn about why we absolutely need Meg Loughran Cappel For IL State Senate 49th and Natalie Manley for State Representative 98th District and what they are doing to advocate for us!

Thank you Will County Young Democrats for your support!

“I remember the friends that didn’t make it to graduation. I remember the beatings and the “car accidents” that explained them… Thank you for protecting a space where people can feel safe when our schools and homes fail” - President Tyler Giacalone

In the face of adversity, the Young Democrats of Will County stood united last night, embracing our cherished values of inclusivity and acceptance in the heart of Minooka, IL. We rallied in response to anti-LGBT flyers, pledging our support to our local library – a beacon of knowledge, diversity, and a safe haven for everyone, irrespective of their identity.

Our collective voices echoed the unified message: do not yield to pressure. Let's keep advocating for love, for acceptance, for diversity, because we believe in a community that respects and celebrates all its members, no matter who they love or how they identify. Love is love, and it is our duty to ensure everyone is seen, heard, and celebrated.

In June 1999, US President Bill Clinton declared the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots every June in America as Gay and Le***an Pride Month to recognize the struggles, contributions, and achievements of the community. In 2011, President Barack Obama expanded the officially recognized Pride Month to include the whole of the LGBT community.

Today, we should be celebrating Pride Month with the Will County Board but we are not, because the Republican board members hijacked the proclamations to honor a hate group.

MOMS for America is an anti government, q***r tormenting, book banning, anti-equality, insurrection participating, branch for the Moms for Liberty group. What should have been a day to celebrate and recognize important marginalized communities through a Juneteenth and Pride Proclamation, was overshadowed by hate. Hate for the LGBTQIA+ community by the Republican Will County Board members. Hate for the LGBTQIA+ community by MOMS for America. We were not asked how we felt about this, we were expected to say nothing as we were disrespected, belittled and harassed by having to stand with our attackers as they got recognized by the Will County Board. We will not stand by quietly and allow these things to continue. Our community deserves better.

Thank you to the Democrats on the Will County Board for hearing us and making sure the proclamation was removed at our request.

This is why informed voting is so important. We need to be voting for Democrats. If we don’t the same Republicans will continue to use scare tactics and harassment to further discriminate against us. They will continue to attempt to erase us. We will not let that happen. We will mobilize, we will energize, we will run for office, and we will vote. When we are active we are unstoppable.

Please join us and the Democratic Black Caucus for their 3rd annual celebration of Juneteenth!

Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when the enslaved people of Texas learned that slavery had been abolished and that they were free. It is considered America’s second Independence Day as well as a day of celebration for Black people and Black culture. It honors and draws attention to the history of racism and slavery in the nation and the achievements and contributions of Black Americans. It reminds us of what we went through, what we can achieve, and what more there is to do. Juneteenth places Black people at the center of the conversation about freedom and its meaning.

Juneteenth first became a state holiday in Texas in 1980, and a number of other states subsequently followed suit. In 2021 Juneteenth was made a federal holiday. The day is also celebrated outside the United States, being used by organizations in a number of countries to recognize the end of slavery and to honor the culture and achievements of African Americans.

About Us

The Will County Pride Coalition was initiated by the Will County Democratic Central Committee in June of 2020 to bring together LGBTQ+ organizations and allies to empower the Will County LGBTQ+ community while raising awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and providing educational opportunities for all Will County residents and allies.

The additional founding members were Bolingbrook Pride, Equality Illinois, Naper Pride, and the Young Democrats of Illinois.

We are actively seeking additional members to join the coalition who work in the areas of LGBTQ+ assistance, inclusion, and support as well as allies interested in helping us further our goals.
