Go play the lottery or buy Otherwise, everybody else has to start at the bottom and their way up! It takes years, not weeks or months! I don’t want to hear that s**t!

I left the house on Friday morning thinking I was going to check 2 of my trucks in to the shop for the weekend. I ended up renting a day cab and delivering to San Antonio myself because the driver had already started his weekend and failed. I told him at 11:30 and that I was getting a rental to replace his truck so he can keep rolling. The load was due on Wednesday! Just getting the rental took half of Friday dealing with the devil. Got in the truck and pushed to San Antonio without stopping for gas, bathroom or eating. Made my 2300 appointment but the BOL was left in the truck in Dallas. So the second devil I had to deal with decided that he wasn’t going to let me deliver even after putting him on speaker with the broker. The broker had already let the customer know that I was coming without paperwork hours in advance but this minimum wage chump was on a power trip. The customer needed this load ASAP so they could put toilet paper on the shelves so they had told us to get down there by any means necessary. He had the load number in his system but refused to let me deliver. So I booked a hotel and had to let my next load know I wouldn’t be able to pick up on Saturday ($1,000 lost) because the current load only receives by appointment at night. I had my laptop so took care of some business during the day, went to my appointment early, got unloaded, and deadheaded back to Dallas. I dropped the trailer at the yard filled up on fuel and DEF and almost brought the truck back. But at 0300 today I decided that I’m going to keep this rental and keep my 2nd driver running. Gotta fly my other guy out to to get his truck which has been in the shop since 12/23/20. That’s a whole other story how I had to recover that load internally. Long story short - managing a 3 truck fleet is a challenge and it is not for you if you aren’t built to problem solve. And you have to hire drivers who are problem solvers and who are hustlers too. I have 7 months in this business and I’m building a brand reputation. The broker paid a premium to us for that load and I as the owner needed to step up to let them know that we appreciate their business and failure will not happen on my watch! 🏁
