"This morning I had to run down to the Broward County Health Department to drop off death certificates, and brought some swag and cookies for the staff.
This lovely lady in the picture is Sabrina, who I deal with on a daily basis. It has been a crazy time for the state of Florida regarding the EDRS (Electronic Death Registration System) since the outage a couple of weeks ago, and we just wanted to drop off a little something to say thank you to their team for helping us out."

An important reminder of how much better families and the community are served when we work together!

Two Oregon women spend years sifting through ashes to give veterans a proper burial 05/28/2024

It’s not uncommon for funeral homes to keep remains, of both veterans and others, because staff was unable to contact relatives or the deceased had no next of kin.
Years of work and research by Carolyn Arntson and Denise Hatch on the background of nearly 3 dozen US veterans will come to fruition on June 1, during a ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery. They will receive military honors, and there will be guest appearances from local politicians and the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The public is invited to attend.

“It will be a way to honor, not just these 34, but the other veterans who have either given their lives or have given their time,” Arntson said.

Going with Grace End of Life Planners Alua Arthur: "When I'm thinking about my death, I'm thinking about my life very clearly: What I value, who I care about, how I'm spending my time. The Virtues of a Virtual Minyan 03/04/2024

The Mourner’s Kaddish is a core part of every traditional Jewish prayer service that, according to religious law, must be recited daily after the death of a loved one for a year. It praises God and calls for abundant peace to rain down on us. Kaddish only “counts” if recited with a minyan, or a quorum of 10 – which is often impossible to find. Now, there are many virtual minyans.

“It is hard to overstate the power of saying Kaddish with other people,” writes Anita Diamant in "Saying Kaddish." “The minyan...turns the prayer into a communalizing force, keeping the mourner among the living—both literally and metaphorically. The power of Kaddish comes, in large measure, from the consolations of being in a group that recognizes and embraces the bereaved.”

The Virtues of a Virtual Minyan While saying Kaddish for both my parents, I spent nearly two years in various Zoom services—and found them, in some ways, better than the original
