Gideon's 300
It is our pleasure and honor to be able to give back to our veterans. It’s not much but it’s something. We did this creek crossing for the Gideon’s 300 group ( non profit that takes veterans hunting and fishing). The wash out was preventing the guys from getting across to the deer blinds. Now they can easily cross and enjoy their hunt.
Would also like to thank Foss Energy Service for donating the concrete and some rock to fill in the wash.
And a thank you to all the veterans out there for your service to our country!!
This is the last pond we worked on.
Made some modifications to this pond. Cleaned it up and increased the volume a little.
Give up a call if you got one you want done.
Please don’t get caught off guard and let what’s happening in these photos happen to you. It only takes minutes to happen.
After the past year starting off with heavy rain then turning dry and add in the recent frost, we have an abundance of fuel for fires out there.
Keep in mind that it is dry and on these windy days pay attention to chances of fires and how they can spread. Fire departments all over south Texas stayed busy last week when the high winds hit.
The Texas Forestry service and Texas A&M offers guide lines you can follow to help protect your property and families.
Remember, Ables Land Enhancements is here to help as well.
Have a good and safe day!!

To supply your livestock or just for recreation, a small lake or pond can add value to your property. What a great enhancement to have? Just imagine sitting by edge of the water watching a sun rise in the early morning or not having to worry as much about the busted water line feeding the trough on Saturday evening. Let us help you to enjoy life or be released of a little stress by constructing an area like this.

As the summer months have brought us more rain then normal and the grass has grown more then normal the fire hazards this year are higher then most.
This can lead to wild fires being fueled and leading to structures being put in danger. Remember that grass fires don’t need wind, it can create it’s own wind. Grass fires can travel as fast as a car on the interstate.
Here is some tips to hopefully help to prevent these dangers this year.

This is some of the work that has been getting done. We are a little behind but working hard to keep up. Been working till sundown almost every day attempting to keep up. For those who have been waiting thank you for your patience. High demand weather and a couple breakdowns have slowed us a little but the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen.
Been trying to get this hay baled for a while now. Getting it worked in in between jobs. Now if we can just avoid the breakdowns or at least get the parts we need to keep moving.
A big thanks to Thomas Ables, Delane Ables for fighting that good ol south Texas heat and getting some grass cut today.
And to Katriena Ables for letting me borrow Matt for parts delivery.
We have had a lot going on lately.
All the early summer rains got the grass growing keeping us busy. We are doing our best to keep up with the demand but sad to say, fall short from time to time.
If your interested in getting some work done call early so we can get you on the schedule.
We thank everyone for the support and the business!
As summer rolls along and the rains keep coming in and the grass keeps growing, we thought a share of some safety tips would be appropriate.
The tall grass attracts mice and the mice attracts the snakes. Attached you will find some information from the US forestry service that could be useful this summer when it comes to snakes.
As to what I call old timer common knowledge about the little critters I’ll say this.
1 A snake is more afraid of you then you are it.
What this really means is that a snake is not gonna strike at you just because. They will strike because they are scared and defending themselves.
2 A young snakes venom is more deadly.
This one is not really true. A young snake is more dangerous because they are harder to see.
So watch out and know where to watch.
3 stay in the short grass.
Yes, staying in the shorter grass will help you to see a snake if it is there. How ever, if you have a line of grass where the grass is taller or you want to follow a cow trail. Keep in mind that snakes will hang around the edge of tall grass to keep cover but also wait for the next meal to pass by. So if your traveling by and the snake feels threatened you may get a bite.
So watch out stay safe and please educate your children.
In the country or in the city they could be anywhere.
