Therapy Dog Gracie is back for Fluffy Friday from 1-3 p.m. This Great Dane is the size of Apollo, Nora, and Tsunami combined or 30 Winstons. Stop by and pet her in the Bronco Community Zone at the Library, second floor, and feel calmer and more relaxed.

Today is National Different Colored Eyes Day, or heterochromia. The library has our own heterochromia mascot, therapy dog Gracie, with one blue eye and one brown eye. Watch her introduction video here: https://youtu.be/_fRFV9u7Mxs

A panel discussion featuring three leading Chicana student organizers of the historic East Los Angeles High School “Blowouts” Participants in this panel discussion: Victoria Castro - Founding member and first president of the Young Citizens for Community Action (Pre-Cursor of the Brown Berets), longtime educator, administrator, and former school board member for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Paula Crisóstomo - Original member of the Young Citizens for Community Action, walkout leader at Lincoln High School, former Director of Government and Community Relations for Occidental College. Rachael Ochoa - Founding member of the Young Citizens for Community Action, a member of the Mayor Sam Yorty’s Youth Advisory Council, and longtime educator for the El Monte Unified School District. The event will also highlight the contributions of the Chicana & Chicano activist community in fighting for the establishment of Ethnic & Women’s Studies, Chicana & Chicano Studies, and Central American Studies in the California public school, community college and university system.
