Before and after.
Just gotta clean up for the last tree I cut and that’s two jobs down today, prolly by noon.

The view from up in my tree.

Finish this all in the garden last time.
Im here today to cut some trees, finish laying the w**d mat in the islands where the trees I’m cutting are, and start spreading rock.

Photos from Vintina Lawn & Management's post 02/14/2024

Step 1:
Remove all w**ds and grass that has previously overgrown all the gardens down to the dirt…
Ended up doing this in half a day and I expected a full day from it.
And boy was it covered with grass and w**ds!!!! I mean you could not see through it. It was just like these areas were part of the lawn. Couldn’t see the curbing.
Also dug a three to five inch trench around all curbing.
Coming next is underlayment barrier then rocks next week. Got some tree and stuff to cut as well.

If anyone needs any screening done….

Before and after. I did the paver pad previously. Owners said the rain was running off the roof and splashing down next to the pavers, kicking up dirt.
We decided on a rock perimeter around the paver pad. Came out well. And their problem is gone.
Repeat customer.
Vintina guarantees your happiness.

Edging. It’s important. It makes a yard look immaculate vs sloppy. Good edging looks amazing. No edging looks unkempt and messy. Bad edging looks terrible.
They Make machines just to do edging and if your lawn care guy isn’t using one to do the edging you may end up with less than spectacular result.
Good edging has a clean, straight, sharp relatively small line that visually shows a separation between your concrete and your grass. No edging the grass will grow up and over the concrete, covering it. Bad edging will look gap-y, uneven, chunky, and even bald. Because if your using a line trimmer as an edger you do not have control of that line.
The first photo here is a recently new account of mine. 2nd month in. When I first got it there wasn’t any edging. And you can see where the grass had grown over and covered the sidewalk. Where it is all less dark near the right side. That was all grass.
While doing this account this week the neighbors lawn care guy was also there and he does his edging as I’ve explained earlier. And it looks terrible.
In the first photo you can see the grass and the concrete is seperate or the line is straight showing only a small, straight, sharp separation. On the two on the right you can see uneven, some places an inch wide!!!!, choppy lines.
I don’t understand how someone can leave this kinda work behind and be ok with it. I would not be proud enough to put my machines away and go to the next job. I care about every single one of my accounts and five each of them top service. My best. Every time. I’m not ok with mediocre work that I can’t be proud of. If I cannot use every single job of mine in an advertisement then I’m not happy with it. I don’t feel I could show that to a client and ask are you happy?, and get a positive response I could feel good about as a business owner.
Don’t believe me about the edging? Let me come out to you and show you on your house. Compare my work with others work. Look along my page and find other stuff I have done and use it against anything. I always give this much attention and effort and pride into my work.
Guaranteed.

EDGING:
So when your lawn care provider service your lawn there are four tasks performed. Mowing, edging, trimming(w**d whacking), and blowing. Which I do in that order.
We’re gonna talk about edging.
What edging is,essentially, is making sure that no grass grows over and comes up onto any concrete in your yard. Driveway, side walk, curbing, etc. I do not have pictures available of a yard without edging done. But it creates a nice crisp line separating your lawn from any concrete, or other, barrier you may have.
There are multiple ways to do this, some better than others.
You can use an full blown edger that does nothing else but edge. This machine is quite big and has four wheels. Kinda a pain to bring with you and unload at every job if your a professional. You can get a stick edger which looks much like a line trimmer( w**d whacker). This is what I do. It’s slim and compact it Has one wheel and can easily be mistake for a line trimmer. Or you can use a line trimmer, turn it sideways and run along the edging. This takes out needing a seperate machine to edge with but is also very spastic and quite uncontrollable. I have seen people use this method well but it’s not often.
The problem with using a line trimmer to edge is that a line trimmer isn’t made for that first. But a line trimmer spins at high rpms which makes the line shoot out straight and spin fast enough to cut through blades of grass. However if you are to hit something solid with the line it will send it off course and make it waver.
Picture holding a three foot rope and spinning. the rope will extend until its straightens the just spin with you. But if you hit an obstruction the rope
Will wave and you would have to keep spinning to get it back straight.
So now your using a machine with unstable lines to dig into dirt!!! And create a straight line. But as soon as that that line hits anything more solid than a blade of grass it’s gonna go off course and not be straight. This creates uneven lines, random gaps, and, in my opinion, an unappealing optic.
Now the photos I used for this lesson are of an account I service and the house nextdoor. I did not go way onto this guys property to take photos of his house. I’m not gonna even say where this is. It the first four Photos are of where his property meets the one I service. His are under the yellow line mine is above. I happen to know that the other service uses a line trimmer turned sideways. You can see from my markings and in the corner where this does not look appealing. And you can tell where his edging ends and my edging begins.
I use a stick edger, as I said earlier. A stick edger, much like a line trimmer, uses an engine to spin the head at high Rpms. However instead of having a flimsy piece of line that spins fast, and can be sent out of its projected path by anything it hits, it utilizes a rectangular flat metal bar(the stick) which it spins. You can get different gauge sticks some are thicker than others. So this stick spins and you can put it flat against any curbing or concrete path and no matter what’s in your way this metal bar isn’t bending. But this has a downside to because maybe you hit a rock and it shoots back and hits you... maybe even in the crotch. I’ve had it happen before. But the idea there is if there’s a rock or something in your way, bend over pick it up and put it back in your Clients garden.
Anyhow when this stick spins, its able to go into dirt if it has to and stay straight. I use a wide gauge stick so the line left is crisp and clean and noticeable.
The photos in this that do not have yellow markings are of some of my edging. Notice my corner compared to yellow circled corner in the other photos.
Now, without offending people (I’m sorry if that’s not possible). For MY business this is unacceptable. I will never leave your edging lookin less than great. The goal is for nice clean, crisp, and straight lines. Smooth transitions for the trimming and a clean crisp break between your edges.
Vintina Lawn & Management prides itself on making your lawn reach it’s full potential of looking amazing. Even if your lawn doesn’t look amazing now, we can get it there together. I do not accept anything less than amazing. Things will be done properly and done well. And I encourage my clients to tell me if something isn’t done to their expectation. I won’t take it as an insult to my craft. I want you to be more than happy with our service. This is your house after all. I just provide a service. So as a client paying someone, you want it to meet your standard. I want it to meet your standard.
Vintina lawn has a lot of pride in the work and services performed. We don’t settle for “that’s good enough”. Mention the “edging ad” from Facebook and get 20% an annual agreement.

Line trimming: when we mow your yard there is only so close we can get to your house, or other obstructions, with the lawn mower/tractor. Those areas left behind get taken care of with a line trimmer (w**d whacker). Problem is, in most cases, the lawn service provider will cut these areas lower because they are not skilled with this machine or they don’t have the ability to hold it straight. The first four photos in this group are a law I did another job for. I do not do this lawn. But when I seen this I knew it would be perfect for this post.
You can obviously see that the mower cut the grass to a certain Length and whoever did the trimming was way lower than guide left by the mower. Which is what you use to gauge your cut height when using a line trimmer.
This is a hard skill to learn, I have not been able to teach anyone I’ve had work for me how to do this and keep it straight.
But other professional companies leave their accounts like this.
The rest of the photos are of areas of a couple of my accounts where I have to line trim bigger areas like by a body of water or near a culvert in front. My mower can not get close to these areas so a big area is required to be done by hand with the line trimmer. I have to stay about a foot and a half away from the canal and a majority of the center of the swale with the mower. But look at the photos and see if you can tell where my mower line starts/stops. A real professional will be able to tell.
As a consumer you may not notice but look at the first four photos and you can tell about six inches out from the curbing all around is lower than rest of the field.
In my opinion I think this looks outrageous. More importantly he doesn’t care that he left HIS clients account looking like this in such a nice neighborhood.
Vintina Lawn prides itself in taking these seemingly unimportant tasks seriously. This is the most important task in cutting a yard. It can be the difference of “WOW that looks amazing” and “what is that????” But it is hands down the most important task of the service. Vintina Lawn knows this and takes great care to make sure your lawn never looks less than amazing. We want smooth transitions and straight lines. Come and join our family of accounts and take your yard up a level. Mention this add and get 20% off your annual full service agreement.

Today’s job. Edgewater near harbor. Tried to align these so they are before and after next to each other. I hope that’s evident. This is one of my full service accounts and due to his loyalty discount for all of this was done for a surprisingly low cost to him. Become a Full service client to get 15-20% off all miscellaneous services offered by Vintina. IE tree work, pressure washing, re-screening, rock and mulch and so on.
