At Spruce Creek High School, Mu Alpha Theta recognizes and celebrates the incredible work and effort put in every single day by our amazing math teachers this Teacher Appreciation Week 2020, especially during this difficult time.
Featuring Mrs. Morris, our AP Statistics and IB Math Studies 2 teacher!đ Here's what some Spruce Creek students have to say to show their appreciation:
~
"Taking her AP Stat class in Freshman year, Mrs. Morris was the perfect teacher to introduce me to the reality of high school and to build up my enthusiasm for the IB/AP learning environment. Furthermore, she just had many little life lessons scattered throughout her course! One example is to not take a picture of your teacher in a funny context and post it on Twitter, only to come back to school the next day and be threatened with a felony! Iâll always remember her class and the people in it as a fundamental part of my high school experience. Baby^2 Stat signing out!"
~
"Mrs. Morris' class was honestly the highlight of my day. Her class always brought good laughs and all-around good times. There was never a day I walked out of her class without a smile on my face. Mrs. Morris was always able to make statistics fun and engaging, and will forever consider her my stat mama!"
~
"Thanks for a great year Mrs. Morris. I feel like I've unlocked a new superpower being able to critique people's studies/experiments and actually being able to understand what a t-test is. I will miss your class!"
~
"I am so thankful I took your class! I had a lot of people telling me that I shouldn't take statistics as a sophomore as it would be too hard, however it was the best decision I've ever made. Your engaging in-class activities were always so fun and always seemed to get the lesson to stick in my head. I cannot imagine learning stats any other way! I thank you for always being there for guidance and support whenever I needed stat help, or even just for advice in general. I miss you!!!"
~
"Mrs. Morris was hands-down one of the best teachers I've ever had! She was always able to relate with her students and was always there for us when we needed her. Her dedication to her students is profound, and I always think back to her class with nothing but fond memories!"
Featuring Mr. Phillips, our IB SL/HL Calculus teacher! :D Here's what some Spruce Creek students have to say to show their appreciation:
~
âThank you for teaching me 2 years of Calculus! I enjoyed every moment in your class!â
~
â[The most memorable memento with Mr. Phillips would be] me taking HL for my diploma and everyone including Jude said why. He looked at me and rolled his eyes. This is the class of 2019.â
~
"Mr. Phillipsâ class was always the highlight of the day, even if I had him in the first period. He was fair, but showed students that he cared about their education. Although this year did not pan out the way we anticipated, the memories from HL and all the inside jokes (grant on test days) would most definitely be one of the most memorable of our high school experience. Youâre like our dad! Lol "
~
"Calculus HL 2018-2019 was a fiesta. I am so sorry you had to deal with me and my mistakes (for instance, on one of the exams dealing with the idea of convergence, I put 0>1, diverges). The class was fun. I still despise card probability questions. The MAO competitions were also fun, even though I did not perform too well on those. Thank you for making my last year of high school memorable. Also, my favorite moment in HL calc was probably when we threw the surprise birthday party. Your reaction towards it made my day on probably the worst day I ever had in high school."
~
"Wow, what can I even say? Mr. Phillips calculus classes have honestly been the highlight of my high school career at creek. His guidance and patience has truly made me appreciate the subject more and push myself to do better if only to make him proud. I had the pleasure of taking his class for 2 years (1 and 3/4 rip). His class was the most stable thing my senior year and I truly appreciate that. This last year I got to know him even better and will dearly miss his calm presence. But not to worry I will be keeping in touch if I take higher level calculusđ. Heâs the best calculus teacher hands down and I doubt a college professor will make me change my mind."
Featuring Mrs. Budde, our IB Math Studies and Geometry teacher! Here are some of the amazing things students have to say to show their appreciation:
~
âI am so thankful I took your math class because youâve inspired me to love the subject again. I think the most memorable experiences with you were in my junior year, 1st period when the computer pad always crashed during the lessons but the media center never believed you and thought you werenât working it right. Another great one is when we all would have random talks about life. I sat in the same seat both years of Math Studies just because it felt like the perfect seat in the room. Close to the door, perfect distance from the screen, and perfect distance to hear the lesson lol. Youâre extremely helpful and always looking to lend a helping hand which means a lot especially to students who have a lot on their plate. Thank you so much for everything Mrs. Budde.â
~
âMrs. Budde is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She always takes special care to help us understand things and always makes our questions feel valid. I'm not bad at math but it's always been a subject I struggled to keep up with, and Mrs. Budde actually makes me feel comfortable with it and sometimes even enjoy it. Even though our class was only six kids, Mrs. Budde made us feel worthy of her attention everyday and showed us a new side to math. This is cheesy I guess, but I hope she knows we appreciate her so much!! Thanks for everything this year Mrs. Budde!!â
~
âBest teacher ever!!â
~
âYou made math studies easy for me. And I canât thank you enough for always being there for us when we had questions or just to talk. Love you mrs. Budde!!!â
Featuring Mr. Marracino, our IB precalculus, and AP Calculus teacher! Here are some of the amazing things student have to say to show their appreciation:
~
"Mr. Marracinoâs pre-calc class was never ever boring, and I genuinely looked forward to going to that class every day. Even after I was no longer in his class, I still was welcomed to sit in his room during lunch (an offer I took him up on" several occasions), and he never failed to make sure I knew that I could ask him for help. Iâll never forget when my friends and I were decorating his door in December for NHS, and he made several attempts to get a perfect picture of himself being âshockedâ so that we could put it on the door to add flair to it."
~
"He taught the class so well and kept the lessons so clear while at the same time telling us amazing stories of his life!"
~
"Mr. Marracino always was so kind to us and always kept his students in mind. I had him last year and when I see him in the halls he always says hi and is so friendly. I miss his class so much!"
~
"One of the best teachers I've ever had!!!!"
~
"Always so helpful and always allowed me to come in during lunch for help! He was very understanding and always took what the students were going through into account."
Featuring Mrs. Deamer, our Pre-IB/Competitive Algebra 2 teacher, and awesome Mu Alpha Theta club sponsor! :D Here's what some Spruce Creek students have to say to show their appreciation:
~
"Thank you Mrs. Deamer for making my freshman year at high school a blast! I loved every single one of your stories which always made the class so much more light-hearted and enthusiastic. Your determination and hard work as a teacher have led many to love math(well maybe not many) and your class."
~
"Mrs. Deamer is always there for her students and treats them like her own children. Some of our most treasured memories of high school took place in her classroom. We love you Mrs. Deamer!!! ~SCHS Class of 2018"
~
"BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD HELPS ME WHEN I LITERALLY COULDNT DO MATH"
~
"I loved Mrs. Deamer's class for how concise and to-the-point it was, as well as her huge support for Mu Alpha Theta and our competitions each year. I'll always remember the crazy stories she told in class!"
~
"Mrs. Deamer is the reason my sophomore year didnât go into shambles. She supported me in and out of the classroom, constantly comforting me and showing me so much care. I couldnât be more thankful to have her as a teacher and as a friend."
~
"She always makes class so much fun to look forward to! She makes us laugh, and still manages to teach us extremely well and explain math better than teachers I have had in the past. Sheâs incredibly kind and super supportive, as well!"
~
"I took Algebra 2 with Mrs. Deamer. She is by far one of my favorite teachers that I have had in high school. She is a kind, caring individual with a big heart, strong spirit, and a love for helping students. My favorite moments were probably stopping by to eat lunch in her room throughout my sophomore year and as much as I could through junior and senior year. Any time I needed her help with math or even something non-math related, she was always there for me. Love you Mrs. Deamer!"
