Portland SWAA Mission:
The Portland chapter of SWAA is open to all human service and social service workers, students, and consumers (and retirees or unemployed members) who agree with the following:
“In recent years, the social service system, like the health care system, has become an “industry” more attuned to producing funds for social agencies and status for its boards and executives than serving their clients/consumers/patients. SWAA seeks the represent the submerged voices of both the people who work in the social services and those who receive services as opposed to the usual “spokespeople” for them: the agencies and their executives and the established professional associations.”
