Dahl and Company
Makers of Fine Wooden Housewares and Furniture
We received a request for some hanging hardware for one of our large drying racks. Worried that a rack was sold without hardware we asked where the person had purchased it. The answer was at a thrift store on the west coast. We were a little surprised to hear that one of our racks had gone to a thrift store. That is, until the buyer sent us a picture of it. We can tell by the brand that this rack was made approximately 40 years ago by our founder and current proprietor, Jim Lynch! Imagine how long the original customer owned it before downsizing or, sadly, possibly passing away. We bet it's seen a lot of laundry in its day. May the current owner use it for at least as long, before sending it on to its next owner. Hey, when we say heirloom quality, we mean heirloom quality!
No woodworking today. Gotta clear all this spring weather from the yard. Tomorrow, though, back to it!
Just dropped off some racks at the Center for Maine Craft in Gardiner ME. Shoutout to everyone there for the amazing job they do representing Maine artists and artisans! Stop by on your next trip up 295 and pick up a wall hung drying rack and other beautiful items both practical and gift-y!

Dahl and Company Wall Hung Drying Racks are handmade. They are constructed of eastern white pine, maple, and ash. This wood is locally sourced and sustainably harvested in the great state of Maine. We fasten our products with stainless steel, brass, and bronze, also sourced in Maine. These fastenings will resist rust for years, even in moist or humid environments (think laundry room or pool house). Where is our sturdy paper packaging made, you may ask? Why, in Maine, of course! When we set out to be as local and green as possible, we meant it!
Our racks come in 2 sizes. The large one is 27" x 17" x 6" closed. The small one is 18" x 17" x 6" closed. They both extend to 36".
Each of our racks is finish sanded by hand to a satiny smoothness. No more snags on your delicate items.
These racks have no finish on them. They won't stain your fabrics, and are food-safe for use in the kitchen. At last, a place to dry your fresh pasta, and flowers and herbs from your garden!
