Community of Change, Inc is a nonprofit organization that was created in 2016 with the intention of enhancing wellness, extending kindness, and facilitating healing within our community.
Join us in this historic partnership with Black Men United and Second Calvary Baptist Church as we host the first World Vision-sponsored community giveaway in Virginia on Saturday, August 31st, at 2940 Corprew Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia. From 11 am to 2 pm, we will be giving away brand new houseware items, bedding, toys, kitchen appliances, footwear, and so much more. Be sure to bring the entire family!

Our meeting today with the Hand in Hand Hospital Violence Intervention Program at Riverside was very inspiring. We learned so much and had the opportunity to see the trauma unit in action.

Officer Shannell Porter is an I. C. Norcom graduate and Portsmouth native. After participating in the PPD’s Explorers program, she had so much fun during the program that she wanted to give back and serve her community as a police officer. So, in 2011 Officer Porter joined the PPD; recently, she began serves as a Community Enhancement Officer.
Her favorite things about being a police officer are the moments she can help someone or defeat preconceived ideas about how police officers treat people. When Officer Porter isn't working, you can find her completing a fill-in crossword puzzle.

PRHA TO OPEN THE HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER-MAINSTREAM WAITLIST – June 10th Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV) –
Criteria: Non-elderly persons (18 and not yet 62 years of age) with disabilities WHO ARE:
✅transitioning out of institutional or other segregated settings or at serious risk of institutionalization
✅currently experiencing homeless
✅previously experienced homelessness and currently a client in a permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing project
✅at risk of being homeless.

The waitlist will open Monday, June 10th, at 9 a.m.

Duplicate applications will not be accepted.
Applicants meeting the specific criteria will be placed on the preliminary waitlist using the lottery system.
Applications will be assigned a number and the lottery system will randomly select applicants for placement on the preliminary list.
Upon acceptance of an application, applicants will be given a confirmation number. Please print or document this number as it will be used to identify your application.
Results from the lottery draw will be posted Thursday, June 20th, 2024.
