The Teen Summer Reading prize drawing will be Friday, August 30, at 3 pm. Sometimes your only option was to enter the almshouse until you could get back on your feet. Join Historian Shannon Butler as she shares the history of the Poughkeepsie Almshouse and the forgotten stories behind some of its residents.

Having fun at the Poughkeepsie Book Festival! It runs until 3 PM today at Dutchess Community College's Falcon Hall. Come meet authors and illustrators from the East Coast, take pics with costumed book characters, and do some crafts! Free admission!
2024 Book Fest Voucher highlight
Did you know that each child, 17 and under, will receive a voucher worth $15 at the Book Fest?
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Friends of PPLD, kids who come to Book Fest can go home with a free book ($15 and under).
The voucher can be redeemed for a book $15 or under, or applied towards a purchase over $15. The child must be in attendance to get the voucher. Other restrictions apply, see the website for details.
Book Fest takes place Saturday, March 30 from 10 am - 3 pm at DCC's Falcon Hall.
Free admission! Lots of activities, crafts to do, and over 100 authors and illustrators will be there. We can't wait to see you!
