Miss Rodeo Washington 2024- Piper Schirm
It's "Things About Me" Thursday where I share facts about myself!
In 2015, I purchased my first horse, TC Skippin Silk, also known as "Sass". We participated in the Washington High School Equestrian Team where we competed in drill. "Sass" and I were also part of the founding Cinch Girls team at the Toppen*sh Rodeo in 2019. I am excited to be headed back to the Toppen*sh Rodeo next week!

As the due date for the 2025 Miss Rodeo Washington applications approaches, I want to highlight one of my favorite parts of the pageant. We have the opportunity to visit Kelleher Motor Company for a media question. After this, we can spend a little time with our families. Thank you, Kelleher, for sponsoring the Miss Rodeo Washington saddle, contestant vehicles for pageant and being an integral part of the pageant experience.
With love,

Putting my rodeo queen skills to the test!
My aspirations to inspire the next generation come from the love of my community. What better way to do that than to visit my old high school to talk with students entering the workforce about my career in project management. We covered a few of my favorite topics:
1) Interview tips and tricks
2) The importance of scholarships, sports, and extracurricular activities that provide skills for the future
3) The power of networking
Thank you to the teachers at Richland High for inviting me to speak!

Thank you to all the members of our military who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect this great nation we call home.

It was a blessing to be asked to carry the American flag at each performance this weekend. I spent some quality time with my rodeo friends, making art and signing autographs before the rodeo.

In Idaho this weekend, I was able to work on my horsemanship skills with the 2018 Miss Rodeo Washington and winner of the coveted horsemanship award as well as Second runner up at Miss Rodeo America. It was fantastic to feel the growth I was able to achieve in just two days of riding with Beth Bahem.

As we celebrated the 150th Kentucky Derby today, it was a perfect opportunity to pay tribute not only to the illustrious Seattle Slew but also to recognize the grace and poise of Myra Pearce, Miss Rodeo Washington 1977. It's also fun to note - although they were not pictured, that his owners from Ellensburg Washington were present during this photo and added a touch of local charm to the legend that was Seattle Slew.
Hey Happy Ag Industry Friday!
Hay has been harvested in Washington since the arrival of the first European settlers and remains the sixth most valuable crop in the state. Alfalfa, timothy, and other hay varieties are mown, dried, baled, and used as feed primarily for cattle and horses. Hay fields are common throughout the state, and hay farms became especially large and productive in Eastern Washington after the introduction of irrigation. Hay was traditionally grown for local livestock, but now about half of all Washington hay is exported overseas, primarily to Asia. The Columbia Basin, in particular, grows hay primarily for export transported through the Port of Tacoma and the Port of Seattle. Washington is one of the top-ranking states in the nation for hay revenues, primarily because of its exports.

Lets meet your 2024 Klickitat County Fair & Rodeo Queen, Cassie Vance. You will be able to find Cassie August 14th-18th at her event!
When asked to share a moment that helped inspire her to become a rodeo queen, she said “The feeling I would get as a child seeing the queens, their smiles, and them taking time out of their day to talk to me.”
Cassie believes the best part of being a leader to others is “getting to see the smile that takes over a child’s face when I talk to them, and they are so eager to listen and learn. I am also thankful for the opportunity to showcase and teach about the Western lifestyle and our small rural county to the best of my ability.“

Please welcome your 2024 Miss Teen Rodeo Washington, Jessa Thomas! This Saturday, March 30th, in Cle Elum, WA, we are excited to celebrate this young lady. You can still get your tickets at http://www.missrodeowashingtoninc.com/
Let’s get to know Jessa a little better! When asked to share a moment that inspired me to become a rodeo queen:
“For me, there was not just one moment that inspired me to become a rodeo queen; it was a bunch of small things that influenced my choice to compete. I ran for my first-ever title, jumping feet first, understanding I did not fit the “mold”; however, that is not why I did not win. I took what I learned from that experience and worked harder, learned more, and asked for help. I got the chance to watch the 2023 MRW pageant, and I witnessed the grace, skill, and dedication of the contestants. I can wholeheartedly say that Piper (MRW 2024) has been a positive and inspiring role model since I saw her grace the stage in 2023. All of the rodeo queens who have inspired me showcased a blend of passion for rodeo, community engagement, and leadership qualities that resonated deeply with me. I just recently got to meet Khalilah Smith in person, but she also is a big inspiration to me. Seeing her journey through stories and photos, along with her thoughtful representation of the rodeo world, sparked my own aspirations to make my own path while making a positive impact in the rodeo community.” Jessa said the best part of being a leader to others is “Being a leader means to me that I have the opportunity to inspire and empower others to embrace their uniqueness and shine authentically. There are many good things that come with being a leader as a rodeo queen; my platform, “be YOU tiful” reflects my belief in the importance of representing oneself well and celebrating individuality. Being a leader allows me to set an example of confidence, grace, and strength, encouraging others to do the same.”
