All because you gave a girl a softball ...

"If you give a girl a softball, she will want a bat to go with it.
You’ll buy her the best bat you can find, and then she will probably want a bucket of balls and a glove and some cleats too.
Then, she will probably spend hours begging you to go out in the yard to play with her, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. she will insist. And her insistence will win.
And when a girl gets a jersey, she will need pants and socks and a belt to go with it. And a TEAM…..And then life as you know it will end.
There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling buckets and bags and stinky cleats and crazy girls all over tarnation for hours to practice for a game.
THE GAME.
And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a girl a softball.
Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold-up chair. And her weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun, and getting dirty. So dirty in fact that you will have to learn how to do laundry in a whole new way, like maybe at a carwash using the pressure washer.
And you will be there the day she hits her first home run, first strikeout, and her first double play. And she will make you SO proud. The other moms will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you at bat or on the mound. It's everything her . she did this.
And right before your eyes, your little girl will be transformed from the baby who spun around with her head on the bat, (because she loves attention), into a pitcher. Because she loves attention still.
When you give a girl a softball, you give her more than just a ball. You give her a sport and talent, and hope, and dreams, and friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where she can push her limits, and bravery, and courage, and LIFE, and memories. And she will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a girl a softball.
Because you gave a girl a softball, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the game and love of your team. You will root together. And spew PG-13 things out of your mouths together. Because you gave a girl a softball.
Then one day, many years from today….she will be in her room and a softball will roll out from an old dusty bat bag underneath her bed. And she will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave that girl a softball, you also gave her a childhood that she would never forget. And then she will hug you, and your eyes may leak – because you realize that everything YOU gave up along the way…..was worth it!

This is a 50/50 fundraiser so if all 100 squares are sold, the team will raise $1000 and payout $985 to winners ($15 spent to remove ads). This helps the girls and their families offset the tournament costs.

Love seeing the Prosper High School softball players out helping our young ones by running the practice last night. Always good when a couple veteran Prosper Pride players give back.

The Prosper Pride Organization would like to introduce our 2015 Prosper Pride 8U Head Coach, Logan Harrington.

Logan comes to the Pride program after spending the past 5 years coaching in PBSA in both baseball and softball. He is the current Director of TCS baseball which is one of the top baseball programs in the country. Prior to the TCS Baseball program, Logan has been the owner and operator of The Complete Showcase Baseball and Softball Events which brings hundreds of college coaches across the nation to observe and evaluate high school athletes. Prior to this Logan was the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at Mountain View Junior College for 3 years.

Logan and his wife, Katrina, reside in Prosper with their young family.

Our 2015 team will be in great hands as Logan brings a ton of experience and knowledge to our program. Please be on the lookout for tryout dates later this month for this newly forming 8U Prosper Pride team!

Welcome to the Pride Family Logan!

Congratulations to our 2k14 team for battling through multiple lightning delays, lack of sleep and extreme heat and humidity to take home top honors of the Diamond (top) bracket. The resolve these young girls showed after spending 14 hrs at the park on Saturday, finishing up at 10pm only to be stuck with the 8am game on Sunday due to lightning was nothing short of amazing. They unfortunately lost that 8am game so had to battle through the losers bracket (including 2 games that went multiple extra innings) before finally knocking off the top seeded, undefeated team 15-3 in the championship. It was truly inspiring to see these young girls battle through exhaustion in order to achieve their goal of taking home the trophy. Can't wait to continue to watch these girls grow.

Final results from OKC where our teams battled against some of the top teams in the region.

Combined record: 14-3
Run Differential: 115-35
All making the Championship (top) Brackets in their respective divisions.

Prosper Pride 2k11 - Made final 16 out of 114 teams in the 12U B division playing against older competition all weekend.

Prosper Pride 2012 - Made final 4 out of 20 teams in the 10U open division and was the last “B” level team standing, losing in the semifinals to an A level team 1-0.

Prosper Pride 2013 - Made final 8 out of 32 teams in the 9U division, losing 4-2 in the quarterfinals to the eventual runner up.

Really proud of the grit these girls showed all weekend, sometimes playing against bigger, more talented competition but their resilience, fight and never quit attitude was 2nd to none. The team first mentality and selfless play on the field and in the dugout is really fun to watch.

And last but not least, thank you parents for again being some of the best around and representing Prosper Pride with top notch class.

Another strong day for Propser Pride teams on day 2 of Road to the Show in OKC, again going 6-0 for a now 12-0 record and 101-17 run differential.

Not a bad first day in OKC for our Prosper Pride teams. 2011, 2012 and 2013 each went 2-0 on the day.

Another solid weekend for the girls brought home gold in the top bracket. We asked them to execute and do their assignments. Total team wins were the result.

Great day at the ballpark with girls across multiple teams working together and getting ready for the Spring season.

Congratulations to our 2013 Prosper Pride team for making it all the way to the championship game of the LP3Sports November Invitational! The team fought hard but came up just short against a great opponent in the 10u Diamond Express team. They earned these 2nd place rings and we couldn't be prouder. Also, thank you LP3Sports for another great tournament

These girls had to play a lot of softball to get here! Back to back games Saturday and Sunday left them with a 2nd place finish and we couldn’t be prouder.

Congrats to our 2014 Pride Team for being the TPS Fastpitch- Turf Shootout 8U champs! This was the teams first tournament. Way to go ladies!!!

Congratulations to Isabelle on winning the Ace Award at the Texas All-American games this weekend! Huge accomplishment and her team also won the won the Championship

Reminder that the first tryout for the 8U Fall team will be tomorrow at 8:30am!

Tryouts will be held at Reynolds Middle School. Players should come with all equipment and be prepared to have fun and work hard.

Prosper Pride 2014 will be a new 8U select softball team being formed for the fall. We are needing committed athletes with a 2014 birth year who are looking for advanced softball training and play.

An open practice/skills session will be held this Saturday, June 25th from 8:30-10:30 for anyone interested.

Tryouts will be held July 9th and July 16th from 8:30-10:30. You are invited to attend just one or both if you are available!

All practices and tryouts will be at the Reynolds Middle School Softball Field:
