WHY IS MOUTH BREATHING BAD!??🤔
We all know someone who breathes through their mouth and it can not only be annoying but negatively affecting their health!! 😲
FIVE REASONS
1• CAVITIES
Yes, breathing through your mouth can cause cavities. Our mouths are designed to be filled with bacteria killing saliva. When we breathe through our mouths, they become dry, allowing that bacteria to multiply causing decay in your teeth! 🥴
2• BAD BREATH
No one likes bad breath!
Similar to the cause of cavities, when we breathe through our mouth we don’t have that saliva to destroy odor causing bacteria in our mouths and gut, therefor leading to nasty smelling breath 😮💨
3•CROOKED TEETH
We all want that perfect smile! So how can mouth breathing cause crooked teeth?
Tongue posture is very important to maintain straight teeth. Our tongue should ALWAYS rest on the roof of the mouth. Our tongue is a natural retainer for teeth and when our tongue is not in its proper position it can allow those teeth to move and become crowded. We cannot keep our tongue on the roof of the mouth while mouth breathing!!! It’s impossible!
4• SICKNESS
This last year has brought a whole new meaning to being sick.
Our nose is designed to cleanse warm and humidify the air we breathe. when we bypass the nose, we not only loose that cleansing factor but we don’t get the nitric oxide that is produced in the nasal cavity! We need that nitric oxide to support our immune system and keep us healthy and happy (and out of Quarentine) 🤧
5•ALLERGIES
Again, our nose is designed to filter the air we breathe! Without that natural filter, we breathe wayyy more allergens directly into our lungs. 😵💫
