This Bukacek Construction foursome comprised of Allie (project coordinator), Danielle (controller), Josh (general superintendent) and Dean (project manager) started the day dry but ended up playing through one of the rainiest days of the year at RAMAC's 10th annual Mike Batten Memorial Golf Outing on Monday, July 29th. Although it tried its hardest, the rain couldn't stop our team from thoroughly enjoying the day. Thanks Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce for another great event!

Work on the Village of Somers auditorium renovation continues with construction of the new Village Board desk and raised platform. We can't wait to show you the finished product!

Let's start the new week with some great news! Congratulations to the Village & Town of Somers and Bobcat Company for their new Somers dealership. Thank you to Rocco Castellano Design and all of our dedicated subcontractors and suppliers for their contributions in making this project a success. The new facility received final occupancy last week and here is a sneak peek of the building. Final photography will be taken this week and shared at a later date.

This summer is going to be a hot one. Here's life-saving info from Ready Racine County:

Summer heat waves have been the biggest weather-related killers in Wisconsin for more than 50 years, far exceeding tornado and other storm-related deaths. Thousands of Wisconsinites fall ill or are hospitalized for heat-related illnesses each year. As we see higher temperatures this week, please take steps to stay safe. You can start by hydrating often and staying out of the heat as much as possible. 🌡️

The inside of a vehicle can be especially dangerous. On an 80-degree Fahrenheit day, temperatures inside a vehicle parked in direct sunlight can climb almost 20 degrees in 10 minutes. 🚘

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Leaving a window cracked is not enough!

After 25 years of service and smiles, our superintendent Gordy Hudson has retired. Anyone who knows Gordy, knows that he would not want a big production made out of his day; so we surprised him at the Bobcat job site on his last day. A couple words from Andrea Bukacek, good friends, some cake and a beautiful day made for the perfect send off! Congratulations Gordy.... you are now Off the Clock!

As spring approaches, so does the completion of another of our projects: Racine Public Works Transfer Station. You may remember that the Kestrel Hawk Landfill closed and the City of Racine needed to come up with a plan to dispose of the trash that would otherwise have been stored at that site. This transfer station is being built to store the city’s waste temporarily until it can be delivered to a different landfill.

Photos below show the building shell. On the east side of the building (photos 1 & 2), city garbage trucks will deliver trash to the building which will be compacted and then re-loaded into tractor trailers that have been backed into the ramp for delivery to a final landfill destination. On the west side of the building (photo 3), city residents will be able to bring residential trash to the site for compaction and distribution to a landfill.

Watch for a post on the finished product once completed later this spring.

In July of 2023, we posted a project announcement for the new Bobcat Plus dealership and we are here to give you a quick progress update. The new Bobcat Plus building is a 13,325-square-foot dealership with four overhead drive-in doors located on the north and south sides of the building for equipment service. The remainder of the building houses customer service, retail sales, office and parts/receiving areas. Additionally, plans include a 19,000 square foot outdoor display area. Once completed in spring, this location will mark the sixth dealership for Bobcat in Wisconsin. Visit https://www.bobcatplus.com/default.htm for company information.

Our Manpower/Equipment Manager John Schuls and his lovely wife Lucy bowled for a cause and Bukacek Construction sponsored a lane at the Pleasant Prairie Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3785 "Bald As A Bowling Ball" fundraiser. The event was held at Sheridan Lanes bowling alley in Kenosha on St. Patrick's Day (March 17th). Proceeds benefited The Shaymus Guinn Foundation which provides support and financial services to families located in Wisconsin; aiding in their fight against pediatric cancer.

ALLIE TRUDEAU was hired as a project coordinator with aspirations of moving up in the company and becoming a project manager. Allie grew up in the Racine area, graduating from Union Grove High School where she starred as a pitcher. Allie earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-District, All-County, Third Team All-State and was the 2014 UGHS Most Valuable Player. She continued her sports career, pitching at a collegiate level for the University of Illinois Chicago where she graduated with a degree in mathematics and computer science. Allie’s work ethic in sports lends well to her professional career at Bukacek where she is learning quickly and proving to be a great asset to the team.

In her spare time, she enjoys anything outdoors (snowboarding, rock climbing, softball, volleyball, hiking) or creative (photography, crocheting, sewing, etc.).

DANIELLE OBERNDORFER is Bukacek Construction’s new controller. After earning her bachelor’s degree in accounting from UW Milwaukee, Danielle took all the necessary steps and passed the rigorous exam sections (4 to be exact) to acquire her Wisconsin CPA certificate and license. She brings 6 years of construction accounting and 7 years of real estate accounting experience as well as a fresh outlook to the company.

In her spare time… wait, who are we kidding? Danielle has three young kids at home including a set of twins! So, much of her time outside of work is spent with her family. She enjoys hiking, Zumba/dance classes and remodeling projects.

Bukacek Construction has had the privilege of providing construction services for two of Twin Disc’s most recent projects.

First, with their decision to transition their headquarters from Racine to Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, an outdated building on Erie Street was transformed into modern office spaces that will function for years to come as the company continues to grow.

Second, we created a fresh, updated atmosphere for Twin Disc's engineering department from shell office space located in Mount Pleasant.
