My Story
My name is Selina Fontaine, I am the one women show behind #SFstringDesigns. I run on love from my Puppy and my Jesus. I LOVE to spend my free time hammering away and watching veterinary shows.
“HOW DID YOU START DOING THIS?" THEY ASK, WELL...
As any great story begins, Once upon a time in Sanford North Carolina in December 2017, I had a life changing moment happen to me. I failed my Anatomy class for college. I was devastated!! They told me I could retake the class the following year but I had to sit out for a WHOLE year of the Veterinary Medical Technician program. A blessing in disguise!!
So, as any millennial woman would do, I look to Pinterest to find something easy to make to sell and have some side money for bill's that came up. I was all excited, I told my Mom(my biggest supporter) about my plan about selling string art signs. She honestly did not believe I could make a profit from this "HOBBY”.
Since a young age I have always been a "crafty person", I've make jewelry, cards, crocheted, and just about everything in the book. So naturally when I first set my eyes on string art I knew it was a task I wanted to tackle. That next day me and my boyfriend went to Hobby Lobby for my string and Lowes for wood, stain and nails. I was excited and ready to start!!
As you can guess, my first piece was a pineapple it turned out looking really rough, uneven yarn and nails poking though the back. I call it the fuzzy pineapple, but my God I was proud of it and now it reminds me how far I've come.
Fast forward to a month later, my Church family saw my work I have made and posted on Facebook, also word of mouth. Then one thing led to another one design idea, turned into a masterpiece and a side job was born.
