In Honor of Women’s History Month, we want to highlight Adé Carrena, Chef and owner of , a woman-owned and game changer company, based in Raleigh, NC.
Growing up hearing stories of African women from her mother Adé gained a passion for sharing stories. Her mission stems from being born in Benin a west African country and using her food to share her home culture with authentic dining experiences. ILéWA utilizes storytelling through food to create safe, healing conversations that help across the diaspora.
They collaborate with women entrepreneurs in Benin to source their ingredients, creating a socioeconomic exchange between powerful women and global markets. Adé was inspired by her mother's cooking and the warmth and love that food can bring.
In Benin, they have a saying “wa mi dounou” which means “come share a meal with me”. At iLéWA, they cherish the idea of sharing a meal with others and hope their spices inspire you to create special moments with your family. Come support iLéWA Foods by purchasing their Suya spice blend or their Coffee Suya rub! “It’s freaking delicious!”
